How many satnav updates per year??

How many satnav updates are released per year and is it necessary to install them all?? I have 2016-1 but have seen 2016-2 already out.... would it be overkill to install that??

Lately BMW has been releasing European maps twice a year in March and September. It looks like it's a 6-monthly release.
I have HU_NBT (bmw 320d from 2015 with professional navi) and there were 2 maps in 2015 and 2 in 2016.

Ok....thanks for that. I will load 2016-2 on my system and then see when the next version comes out. I had a feeling it was going to be four a year but two is not too many.
