Inspection

Can anyone PM me places that will pass inspection without front plates? I don't have a tow-hook or a front plate holder yet.

EDIT: The shop would have to be in NH.

For my last M3, I didn't have a front plate. The car was at the dealer for routine service and the inspection sticker. They did require the plate on the front for it to pass (inspection). The answer, wire-ties until the inspection was completed and the car was moved outside. After the technician cut the ties and put the plate in the trunk.

There might be independent shops willing to overlook the front plate. Are you located in southern NH?

Why don't you guys just double side tape it to the bumper, bring it in to get inspected and then remove it afterwards?

This and/or the zip tie method mentioned. Your car will look bad for a few hours so what, unless of course you just never bothered to keep your second plate.

Exactly.. I don't understand why people don't do this. I have run 5 different cars over the last 15 years, never run a front plate, and never had a problem with inspection.

I just get 2 extra long zip ties from home depot, attach the front plate to the lower grill, drive in, get the inspection, drive out and clip them myself.

I have never encountered a shop in Boston over all my years, that has refused to pass a zip tied license plate. Its not their job, nor does the law specify, how the front plate is to be attached. Zip ties are just as permanent an attachment as screws.

Exactly.. or just do it for 5 minutes. You can attach/detach the plate in the shopping mall next door to the inspection station if you want.
