340 specific fuel

Now I know there are thousands of threads on this but this is a specific question to those 340 owners..
Do they seem to prefer Optimax or BP ultimate?

My gut tells me to stick with Optimax and I have tracked down the nearest shell garage near the dealers.

Cheers

Mine has only ever had VPower apart from two tanks. The first one which was Sainsburys provided by the dealer, and one a few months ago that was tesco 99 RON because there wasn't a Shell nearby. I can't really compare to other fuel as it's not had anything else.

Good good vpower it shall be then. Shells loyalty program is pretty good for cash off vouchers as well.

Especially when you run a 6 cylinder petrol like me...get quite a few cash off vouchers over time!

Is Tesco 99 RON still not as good as V Power? Obviously the Tesco's stuff is a higher octane so in theory should make the car go better, but would you still prefer to put V Power in?

V power for me to. Tried BP ultimate a few times doesn't seem worthwhile, however on the odd occasion I putTesco 99 in it does seem to go well but it might just be my imagination, haven't got any data to back it up apart form the butt dyno

Not quite sure on opinions regarding Shell & Tesco.

I've used this fuel, Tesco 99 from the start. With no apparent issues. Mileage is more than adequate.

It would be pretty hard to describe for me if i have only used one tank on Shell VP to compare.

So your saying use VP with a few tanks then compare to Tesco 99 if VP would be better ?
Think i'll stick to 99. It's what i'm used to. No guinea pig trails from me unfortuanetly, unless there is a challenge.
Just no point in the probable minimal difference. IMO

Will try it but not sure it will make a difference.

Shell V-Power Nitro+ for me ... mind you, Shell is the nearest garage to me anyway.

The old optimax was 98 in the UK, when they changed the name to V-power they made it as 99ron.

Garage List
Fifth Gear testing various fuels using a dyno

Shell V-Power came out on top producing 5.1bhp more than Asda Unleaded. Published in 2012 but food for thought.

It's worth noting that v power comes from GTL (gas to liquid) technology which I believe only Shell can do at the moment. The Tesco momentum achieves its high octane by adding ethanol whereas I believe v power doesn't get much, if any, added. Ethanol isn't good for seals in fuel systems but you pretty much find it in every petrol you can buy.

I've used both v power and Tesco momentum and whilst both seem to offer good performance the Tesco momentum turns the exhaust tips black with soot. For that reason alone I use v power as first choice.
