Creaking

My cars developed a really bad creaking from the back when going over bumps and uneven road surface! Anyone had a problem?

Could I take it back to BMW? For warranty

Push the door seals from the outside, with the doors closed.

If your car had shadowline trim ( gloss black) try coating it with sealer or polish. It's normally the felt door seals that rub on it and make the creaking noise.

For what it's worth, I've struggled with my door seals for over a year and it's driven me crazy.

I've finally asked the dealer to fix it.

My advice, bite the bullet and send it in now.

I had this problem

Local dealer applied a silicone gel which soaked into the seals I guess revitalising them.

I stopped using meguiars gold car wash and now use auto finesse. I think the seals are very susceptible to chemical effects

Shampoo is a major factor, I now only use BMW car wash.

Wax the metal and gloss plastic contact areas and apply the product linked below to the door rubbers and contact plastic when you hear it again.

I usually have to reapply every few months.

I also do the window rubbers and the exterior rubber door surrounds. Cleans them up nicely.

I think this may well be true.

However, I think it's the wax or sheeting agents added that may be the issue.

Brigand says he has no issues using DoDo born to be mild. However, I get minor issues using DoDo Supernatural Shampoo. I think it may the sheeting agents (water repellent) leaving a surface residue on the rubbers.

I'm sure most of the door seal issues are the aftercare products, rather than a door seal problem.

We've had these seal issues for years and years, leave off the cleaning materials and they don't typically creak at all. I'm sure many cleaning and polishing products are just not compatible.

If it really was a manufacturing, design, or production issue, BMW would have sorted it by now, they've had 20-years (or more) where customers have had creaking door seals.

My current car, I don't put any product on the rubber seals or door shuts, no creaking in any conditions, over 3 1/2 years.
