Catless downpipes and replacing secondary cats with resonators adds a bit of sound and has the best performance. It's by far the cheapest option too.

The BMW PE + catless downpipes is my favourite for the n54. But sound is so subjective best bet would be to hear some youtube clips personally. The remus race with some DPs also sound pretty good

Best sound is subjective.
Go to the next meet, and here it live. Once you hear the sound you are looking for, ask them what is their set-up. YouTube provides a reference but nothing like hearing it in person. Nearly all the guys on this forum have had their stock downpipes replaced with either HFC or gone catless, which makes the sound louder (especially on cold start and when flooring it). If you want a raspier sporty sound with a burble on downshift or letting off the throttle, add in the axleback (M performance, Remus, Eisenmann, Akra, Meistershaft etc) each too their own, and each has its own price tag. If you wanna wake up your dead great grandma, go for Sockets Vanguards... |
