Recently I had my 640d coded with various things I wanted and the one that most interested me was the m6 active sound.

I was dubious whether it could ruin the experience as I've heard good and bad from others opinions but that was mostly on the m3/4 active sound.

All I can say is I'm very impressed with the low down growl I now get and a lovely v8 bellow when pushing on whether my window is up or down or if the radio is on or off.

Yes it's fake but it's very realistic and really has taken my petrol itch away and the only downside is I can't stop blipping the throttle to hear it growl and making my mpg drop

Now the car is remapped the m6 sound works even better when pushing on and really makes you feel you are in a fast car.

On the motorway or cruising a normal speeds it's very quiet and no drone whatsoever which is one thing I really hoped it would be like.

So a big thumbs up from a dirty diesel driver

I'd put a sound clip up but don't know how?

Does it match it rpm for rpm so at 5k engine revs its playing 5k of a v8?

It sounds pretty spot on to me.
I've took a few people out in it now and they were convinced it wasn't a diesel even when I put the window while accelerating.
It definitely has made me love the car even more.
