Favorite Boston metro area restaurants?
Guess I'm curious if anyone prefers something different than grilled cheese 24/7 like Torgus
Also nice to know where and how to park our beloved cars. Favorite restaurants in the area? Cuisine? Expect to spend? Parking situation? I'll start off... Favorite place at the moment: Sarma in Somerville Middle Eastern Fusion, tapas style $60+ avg for 2 people (without drinks) as you'll want 2-3 dishes per person Parking sucks there. Somerville street parking (limited) or small lot available, but fills up quickly. |

oh man you opened up a can of worms on this one Z
I'll put down three... Juniper in Wellesley - try the dips and the great cocktails, the jalapeņo one is my favorite - small and larger plates could just get a bunch of small plates and be good, the larger ones are a little pricey, expect around $30 a person depending on how many plates you get - parking is not a problem, on street and community lot, and you'll see plenty of Porsches and BMW around so you're around family Orinoco in the South end (one in Coolidge as well but never been to that one) - great authentic Venezuelan food and amazing sangria - small place, gets packed around peak hours - $50 for 2 people just about - parking sucks, free parking on shawmut and Washington but it's a walk from there... my gf has a brownstone on Tremont so I usually park there and the walk isn't bad Barcelona in Coolidge (one in South end as well but for some reason food is not the same IMO) - awesome Spanish tapas, 2 of my best friends are from Spain and doubted the food would be authentic but when I brought them there they were amazed at how authentic and good the tapas were - depending on how many tapas you order it can get expensive ( $75 for two people I would say) - I've waited 2 hours or so during peek hours for a table just heads up - parking is fine for dinner, plenty of free meters Toro is another good Spanish tapas place on Washington in the South end alright I'll end it there for now and post some more cheaper but also good suggestions in a few |

The abbey in brookline is bomb. New american, mid $20s for entree. Small place, small menu but big taste and high quality food and always busy.
They also have full menu available til 1 pm i think. |

Barcelona is mad good bro!
You guys got it all wrong.. the best place to eat in Boston is 88. You get all the food you want plus the bonus insects/rodents, you smell like oil when you leave, and you can possibly get a disease from sitting in the chairs. I still go though. Parking- Great if you want to come out to find your car scraped up next to a chinese college student driving a Ferrari/GTR/Porsche. joking aside.. Gas Light on the Ink Block. French ~$100+ for 2 if you order your normals (app, entrees, drinks) Parking is decent if you go during off hours. It's pretty horrible during peak times though. Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown Wannabe Taiwanese, IMO mostly chinese ~$60 + Drinks for 2 It's Chinatown, parking is always horrible. I suggest getting take out here. I almost never wait for a table. Call in about 40 minutes ahead of time and grab 'n go. Pad Thai Cafe over by Berklee College of Music Cheap.. $24-30 bucks for 2 Not a real sit down restaurant, order up and take a seat. Parking is actually not that bad. IMO best Thai food in Boston and not overly priced. |

Barcelona, The Abbey, and Gaslight are solid choices. Definitely enjoyed the food there.
Been meaning to check out Toro for years now. |

Toro is great, just like I said the wait times are ridiculous. Get the paella!
Also, there is Coppa in the south end as well. The chef/owner of Toro also owns Coppa. |

Why don't you try Fat Burger from now on? You can get yourself a cheese and fries for 2.95 (Explicit slang).

Giacamo's in the Back Bay is amazing. I hate italian food and my gf dragged me out on a double date. It wasn't very expensive either, maybe 15/20$ a person without drinks. You do need to make reservations otherwise it will be a 2 hour wait, small restaurant.

that is very interesting...I had a totally different experience and I am like you I dislike Italian food and I did NOT like Giacamo's at all, but there are some people who rave about it....maybe I should give it a second chance

My favorites are Sonsie, Atlantic Fish Co., Stephi's on Tremont, and Deuxave.
