60 miles and...

I'm ecstatic. Ecstatically waiting for BMW Assist. Reading the various threads about sub-100 mile auto transmission issues is a hoot.

I did laugh at this though. Just imagining the agents face...

Thanks. Just frustrating but bmw assistance have been exemplary. Full story now I've settled down a bit:

Picked up Wednesday.
Done a massive total of 60 miles.
From pick up, transmission felt a bit off - odd shift patterns, inconsistent delivery of power, hanging in a gear for a bit too long. Seemed to improve in Sport but Comfort was noticeably jerky.
I put it down to not being used to the car / an auto, cold engine, new transmission bedding in.
Today, leave work and get onto the A road. Down the slip road it isn't snappy as I try to pick the gap and about 800m layer, get the gong and drivetrain malfunction message on idrive.
As I was a mile from work (with secure car park) and work is opposite my dealer, I baby'd the car back to work.
Called Bmw assist, they couldn't find me on the system as it's a 16 plate picked up 48 hours ago. They manage to set me up and send out a mechanic.
He arrives (a little later than advertised but it's ok) and obd check shows no current codes but threw up P0730.
As dealer is right here, decided to leave car at work so phone bmw to discuss. Result is:

- they have emailed dealer to expect me tomorrow morning.
- they have arranged a rental for me from 11am tomorrow.
- they will cover the cab home.

Overall, obviously not delighted about error but happy with level of service to resolve. Let's see what happens. Now to research that error code...

Must be very disappointing mate but its definitely not a common fault so hopefully its just a faulty sensor or something

Good to hear BMW are doing their best for you

Sorry to hear about your issues! Seems there are quite a few posts on the net for that error code, all related to incorrect gear ratios!!!

Yep, can't fault the response. Got a 320d pre-LCI loaner for now. It's nice and did a long drove today that conformed the F30 was definitely the right choice so that's at least comforting.

Negatives are that on reflection, it seemed like a pretty major issue that I didn't realise due to ignorance. Don't think it's confirmation bias as the loaner is how I imagined the car would drive. It honestly felt like the torque converter was over-slipping and gears weren't engaging; that doesn't strike me as a sensor. Really worrying is that I heard a quiet whistling in low gears like k444ent...

I can only wait now. Workshop will look at it on Monday and I'll get an update. Fingers and toes crossed.

Yep but strangely I couldn't find one for a F30 and the ones I did find were high mileage and old 5's. Very confusing.
