Harsh riding
I do love my 328i, it has everything I could wish for but...
The ride is too harsh for me and I am now fed up with it. Even on 400M 18 inch wheels I thought I would get used to it but sadly its now getting on my thruppenies! The awful roads do not help either Any "sensible" suggestions ? Last edited by Twenty2Three; 03-17-2016 at 03:51 PM.. Reason: Grammar |

I have read with interest the posts about the difference they can make... but reluctant to shell out £500 for a set just to find they make little difference.
Car has 61K on the clock and still under AU warranty should the suspension still be good? |

Changing to non-runflats makes a big difference.

If you want comfort and refinement then go for a non run flat touring tyre like the Pirelli Cinturato, I guarantee it will transform the car! Not just ride comfort but road noise and steering feel will all be hugely improved. |

Yep, Oponeo delivered them to Cooper Croydon. Run flats fitted two in boot and two on back seat, sold on classified section here in 2 days, & they were the infamous S001's!

My F31 is on 18" wheels and on the dreaded Bridgestone run-flats the ride was ok even in Sport mode (my car has adaptive suspension); therefore, I also find the OP's criticism of the ride slightly surprising. Nevertheless, I'd still echo the sentiments of those who say conventional tyres are better; the road noise from the Bridgestones was awful and AS2's have improved the refinement no end! The steering and ride are also better although I honestly didn't find the latter to be unacceptable on run-flats....

I'm still in two minds about whether to change my run flats for mpss from new.
With a new baby on the way, the peace of mind of having run flats is - no pun intended - quite comforting. On the other I despise road noise. |

He says with hand firmly on a block of wood...
In all the years I've been driving I have only ever had 2 punctures resulting in the tyre going down while driving. More common to find nails/ screws in the tyre causing slow punctures & finding it flat in the morning, where you can then inflate it & get to a garage. On that basis I'm happy to have non run flats with the slime sealant kit in the boot, because I get a better quality of ride / feel to the car and if I do get a puncture & slime it - it can be repaired. If you drive on a punctured run flat the generally the tyres buggered & you have to buy a new one... or two to match up on the axle. So not only is the ride quality of RFT's pants, they cost you more money I'm still on my winters (to be changed as soon as I get a chance) these are 19" non run flat, took a 335i out for a test drive Wednesday it had 19" RFT Bridgestones and you would think it had 60psi in each. It bounced and banged over every little ripple in the road, couldn't believe that mine used to be like that, it was awful by comparason. Last edited by Alscoob; 03-18-2016 at 03:58 AM.. |

I've recently bought an F30 Sport on the 18" 397 wheels and Pirelli RF's, and the ride is a little on the harsh side, but not too bad. It's the road noise and tramlining that I find more annoying. Unfortunately there's quite a bit meat on all four tyres, especially the fronts, so it'll be a while until I'll be changing to non RF's. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics look like a good bet, does anyone here run them?
