For a weekend car get a DC2 Integra Type R. Most 'involved' car I've ever driven. They are also now appreciating. A 350Z feels like a double decker bus in comparison - I've owned both.
Taken from EVO review: '‘It’s a car as sweet and all-consuming as any I’ve experienced at any price, and as pure and focused in its own way as any Porsche RS. Forget the accolade of greatest front-wheel-drive car. The Integra Type-R ranks as one of the truly great drivers’ cars of any kind" http://www.evo.co.uk/group-tests/142...integra-type-r Even though these days I have no interest in combustion cars for my daily A to B needs, if my wife was agreeable, I'll buy a DC2 to keep as a garage queen/occasional weekend runs in a heart beat. The DC2 is the only car I regret selling, nothing else I've owned or driven since have come close interms of pure driver engagement. Or as mentioned, get a bike - I cannot even keep my pedal bike upright at times, so that was a no-go option for me Last edited by gangzoom; 03-18-2016 at 02:20 AM.. |

For me, it'd be another 335i and track it.
Probably in a poor state but all the problem parts would be getting replaced by way of upgrade

I'd stick to something thats cheap to repair too. No point spending 5K on a e36 M3 then needing a 5K engine rebuild, for that reason id go for jap. S2000, civics, evos, integras.
Good luck with the purchase, quite interested to know what you go for! |

Yes I'd second that if not getting a bike or a caterham. An e46 m3 or a 996 is a good weekend car but both carry risks that you are less exposed to with a bike.
Weekend driving is about peace from Mrs and kids, enjoying the road and country side. You could be in a gt3 rs stuck behind a pile of dawdling Sunday drivers. Bikes give you the freedom. Just not for everyone. Plus most people eventually get an r1 and after a year, maybe several eventually sell it after their nth dice with death. |

Bit left field but that would get a reasonable pug 205 1.9 GTI good simple no frills fun with a good kick up the bum keep it clean and unmolested and they are starting to appreciate quite nicely.
