Car Cover or Car Port?

I recently moved into a new place in Monterey, CA that doesn't have a garage. To make it worse, the parking area is directly under a giant tree. After leaving my black 228i unattended for 5 hours it is covered in bird poop and tree junk that isn't much better. So, as you can imagine, I need a remedy and fast. Although I would prefer a car cover for it's simplicity, I have no experience with them and can't imagine wanting to install the thing every day while wearing nice work clothes. This has me leaning towards a cheap temporary car port instead, especially since my home is pretty well protected from heavy winds and storms that would destroy the port aren't a huge concern in Monterey.

Any thoughts or recommendations for either a good car port or car cover that is a quick and easy install and will protect from the bird droppings? I read on here some recommendations for California Car Covers... how easy are they to install?

Thanks!

BMW's car cover is what I use and it's rather good. But wind or rain is a pain.

I've had cotton, Noah and Stormshield covers and I think I like the BMW cover the best.

I have a California Car cover and can instantly recommend them. They are excellent quality.

But, I only use mine indoors. The thing to remember about a car cover is that it's touching the car, so you can only put the cover on when the car is absolutely clean. I mean dust-free clean. Otherwise, especially outside in the wind, the cover is going to rub any surface grit right into your clearcoat.

So if you're willing to use a quick detailer before covering it, the cover goes right on less than a minute.

Here's a thread I posted earlier when I stored mine for the winter under the cover:
