335xi ride height
How much higher does it look compared to the 335i? the 335i stock has a nice low profile with no suspension mods. Reason I ask is I have a 07 528xi and it looks way higher than the 528i, I ordered a 335xi last week and read that it is merely .5 inches higher than the 335i which is not that noticable or at least shouldnt be.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any feedback! Last edited by kel3; 03-05-2008 at 04:19 PM.. |

I'd be happy if I could adjust height with a wrench and didn't require an alignment afterwards.

it sits higher than regular suspension... doesnt make much sense to travel around in the snow while your plough it with your low ass car anyway...
use the search button, there are some pictures around that i've seen comparing the ride height of xi with sport and regular suspension.

Much higher suspension.. looks like an SUV if you're getting 17"s.. better drop that baby quick if you're planning to get one.

This should answer your question.
AWD on the 3 series raises the ride height 0.8". Sports package (RWD only) lowers the ride height 0.6". Total difference 1.4" AWD compared to the RWD sports package. Rather noticable (in looks and performance). I don't know why BMW can't offer a good AWD sports suspension. Audi does a great job with AWD suspensions (my S4 was right on). I guess the marketing types are going after the soccer mom's who are scared to drive in the snow... |

My XI rides on 18s and still looks like an SUV. The front has a 4" gap and the rear has 3" gap. Fuggly. KWv3 coilovers are one of the better answers. I'd have payed more for better shocks and lower ride.

Just because I love posting pics of my car... here are two shots of my XI. First is the day I got it. Second pic is with 189's, H&R Sports, and rear spacers.

Thanx for the response fellas, I found the specs on the hieght and yes they say its about .8 inches higher than a non-sport 335i. how on earth can anyone distinguish 0.8 inches? I may just get the H&R springs as soon as the car arrives to get that nice drop

Doesn't bother me much. The slammed look isn't my style anyways (this isn't a honda, afterall). I've got stock 189s on my xi. I think people overreact about it, personally, and that the So-Cal / West Coast contingent are more sensitive to it than the people that are more accustomed to cold weather driving conditions.
Either way, I don't think my car looks anythign like a 4x4 or an SUV. |

I have an E92 335xi and the car sits terribly high IMO. Just deciding now if i want to go with H&R springs for cheap or spend a bit more and get their coilover kit.
I mean i can fit almost all 4 fingers in between the gap. Thats too much for me, i know its AWD but even my Subaru Legacy GT sat a good bit lower. Im not even trying to slam it, i just want it to look like the stock RWD with sport suspension. |
