440i or 340i - which one?

I thought I had chosen my next ride, the 440i. Now thinking maybe I should save myself £4k and get the 340i. Both cars I absolutely love and I am really struggling to decide between the two.

Apart from looks and the cost is there anything I should be considering in making my decision?

Cheers

Extra kit on the 4. So take that into account. Cannot remember what it is now though.

Only you can answer that. I'm assuming you prefer the 4 as otherwise it's a no brainer. So if you do, is it worth 4k more to have a car that you prefer the look of, I'd say yes!

Love that youve gone from a 30d to a 40i within a few days, this isn't a free forum after all huh.

+1 though having said that, would you look at the 3 everyday and wish you'd gone for the 4. Personally I wouldn't and hence why I've gone for the 3.

I went for the 440i cos I couldn't see myself just buying the same car with a different engine (335D to 340i). Mind you 4K is a lot for that reason, but hey, it's just the kids' inheritance after all.

Yeah, they all have electric/memory heated seats that have been missed off the spec list for the 340i unless they're included in one of the packages.

I assume that £4K is spread across a 3/4 year PCP? So really it's just a good Saturday night out per month extra!

After having the misfortune of getting your car stolen treat yourself to what car you really want lets face it why take your second best option especially if the £4k is over the period of your pcp and which ever you choose you wont be disappointed both great cars.

What a choice to have mate

If its a 4 series coupe then id find it hard to turn that down as they are beautiful and sleek, along with frameless doors and i think possibly different suspension?

If a gran coupe then i prefer the look of the 3 but thats completely personal

Another consideration is, are they the same tax and performance etc? I know the 320d is £30 a year to tax whereas the 420d is £110 due to extra weight or something

Anyway its a choice i wish i had!

Cost on a PCP for the extra 4k will be £100 a month, I have decided to replace the 335d with a 435d too!

IIRC OP purchased previous car outright so it'd be similar circumstances now I assume? I'd go with the 440i as it's what you wanted originally.

Love this forum!

It's a cash purchase with large deposit and small amount on finance.

I think I will go and have another look at the Gran Coupe this weekend. £4K is a lot of money for aesthetics only really.

I ain't bothered about electric seats that much as there is no way my Mrs is driving this car so would rarely change the seats position.

Similar situation to myself, I'm considering 335/435gc, and similar purchase method so you 'feel' the difference more than X per month.
Think I'm going 3 series, but do wonder about the 'same car, different engine' for the next few years.

Good luck.

If it's a large deposit, then in the scheme of things (£40k car), £4K is not much to spend for something you plan to keep for a good while.
