Dash Cam install

Anyone local run with a dash cam? If so, where did you get it installed? In the past I've used Car Toys for stuff like this, but I'm a little more paranoid about this car (go figure).

After an incident this morning I've decided I'd like to protect myself with video evidence - there are some f-ing agressive and dangerous people out there! BlackVue 650 already ordered...

Thanks,

I have a Black Box G98S (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...ilpage_o05_s00), had to buy it after being involved in an accident where the other driver was at fault but blamed me; i had no evidence but the cop knew she invaded my lane. I did the install myself, very simple; depends if you want to use one of the lighter slots or if you want to tap into the ignition wires...I'm using the lighter slot under the glovebox but I've installed radar detectors using live wires instead.

I got the BMW Advanced Car Eye and had it installed at BMW of Seattle. They charged $190 plus tax for the install.

Blackvue 350 was super easy to install and i am a neophyte with this stuff. 650 is the same with a second cam.

I posted a dyi with pics in the other forum on this stuff. I would copy a link, but i am on my phone. The most difficult part is picking the right fuses, but that's in the DYI too.

I installed Blackvue 650 over the weekend to my daily. It took me less than an hr to do it.

You don't need an installer for that.

Thanks! After looking at the links it doesn't look too bad. I'll give it a shot I guess...

I hear ya...got rear ended last week and the first thing I'm getting when I get my car back from the shop is installing a dash cam. I liked Huan's simple setup but I also want rear camera...

Can you tell me who you worked with at BMW Seattle to get the Advanced Car Eye installed? My SA told me it's a euro accessory so I'd have to buy it myself then they quoted me much more than 190 to install it...

Well I did have to buy it myself from ECSTuning: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...Eye/ES2784691/

My service advisor is Karl Peterson: KarlPeterson *at* lithia *dot* com

I had the EBA installation instructions and I emailed those to him and he agreed to go by what the suggested hours to install was on them.

Thank you very much! How do you like it? Is your rear window tinted? I was wondering if my rear window tint will hinder the rear camera...

I am not tinted. I would be careful about that actually. The cam's attach to the windows with a very strong sticker. I expect it would take the tint with it if you tried to remove it.

I do like the camera. I love the integration with the car such that it turns on and off automatically. The parking mode is very intelligent and monitors battery voltage as well as time. Only rub I really have is that the viewer software is for PC only (no Mac version). I did find http://dashcamviewer.com/ that will read the files but the videos are overlaid. The developer is working on fixing that though.
