Pro Tune around Boston?
What is a good place to get a Dyno Protune around Boston (I have Cobb).

There is not afaik. Bren in Worchester is probably your best bit for an in person tune and dyno. Guy knows his stuff but is refusing to use MHD afaik.
Personally I would just get a remote tune via PTF or whomever you feel most comfortable with. Less expensive then a Bren tune. My advice: sell the cobb, buy MHD, load custom tune from whomever.

Thanks for the info. Looks like MHD took off. What can I expect to pay for an online custom tune. How many iterations does it usually take.
Will checkout Bren. |

250 for a ptf protune. 4 or 5 revisions is usually enough. You also get lifetime retuneing.

yeah I think Bren still charges $500. He is a good tuner. But half price is half price.

Continuous updates on the MHD setup. Cobb dropped off support, and MHD is cheaper.

Do you guys know if MHD unlocked new tables in the ECU that Cobb
does not. Also is Wedge (Ken) still remote tuning? FMIC and charge pipe are going in next week. If I am not happy with the Stage 1 + FMIC cobb map I will be definitely looking hard at MHD or pro tune with Cobb. |

Signed up with Bren - will report back with some before and after dyno results.
The whole dyno thing sold me over e-tune. |

I would have gone with MHD. Table access is huge compared to Cobb which is way overpriced to begin with.. Bren is a good guy though and you wont be disappointed either way

How trustworthy are these MHD maps? Reason I ask is I don't want to upload and test one that an 18 year old guy not knowing what he is doing created...any concerns there? I always think this with these sort of open source things

I'd stick with Bren from my personal experience, Protuned my car throughout the whole process from stock to FBO, check out his website under Dyno database, he has all his cars he's tuned, mine is the only 2011 BMW 335 on it I believe (last I checked) but I've had no issues with him I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a Cobb protune

Good to know. I am glad that you were happy with the results. How many pulls did it take to dial in the tune? I have never been 100% happy with the OTS maps. I hope my investment pays off in terms of drivability and smoothness. Looking for 380+hp and 400+ tq.

FWIW I have been running MHD on both my N54s from the start both custom tuned and know more than 4 people all running them. Def worth reading up on.

The second the car comes out of storage, I'll be going to the newer ver6 maps for E85. Can't wait. |
