Got a speeding warning for doing 140 mph in a 55 yikes....
Alright well I did get a ticket but not for speeding. Well I was in a 55 mph zone stuck behind 4 cars and a semi that the speed was fluctuating from 40-55 mph all over the place and I was late for work as it was. Every passing zone I couldnt pass until this one I knew it would ve close passing 4 cars and a semi before the passing zone ended so I hit it as hard as I could. As I was getting past the semi I caught him out of the corner of my eye my stomach dropped because I knew I was doing 140+. The thing is I wasn't able to get over in time before the passing zone ended right before the intersection. I looked at my radar detector like well that didn't go off. The second I passed the semi he turned his lights to pull out. For a split second I thought about... You know but decided against it he was way way back n it took along time for him to get to me after slowing down. So he pulled me over and said right away that was an unwise move you pulled there. I was really nice to him and he talked with me about the car said it looked like it had some get up and go. He said he never got me on radar but he clocked the semi at 56. He said you had to be going over 120 mph when you passed that semi you were flying. I was like yea idk how fast I was going so he was like Im going to give you a speeding warning but Im going to give you a ticket for passing in an intersection. So he wrote the speeding written warning for 25-29 mph over in a 55 and I got a ticket for the intersection passing for 3 points and $200.50. I dont really speed that much the last ticket I got was like 8-9 years ago. Point is your best bet is to be nice to a cop. He could have given me a ticket for reckless driving and or excessive speeding and or more. In case ur wondering I drive a N54 335xi running jb4 E45 gas backend flash map 7 19+ psi. I feel so so lucky right now. He was a younger than me cop state trooper. He was driving a taurus SHO turbo too. I am not sure how my radar detector didnt go off he must have been using laser like alot of state troopers use here. And that makes sense because you cant use laser through the windows and I couldnt see his drivers side window by the time I passed everyone.

Wow thats crazy you got off with a warning. Right after got home from a deployment I bought my car and took a few of my buddies out during a drill weekend (air force national guard). Got pulled over doing 77 in a 45. I was very nice to the officer and when he asked why i was going so fast I simply said I was being stupid and showing off my new car to my buddies. We were all in uniform, I think that helped me out and I got a warning as well. Couldn't be more grateful, and bought a radar detector the next day lol

That was your lucky day lol..... most agencies dont use radar anymore but some still do. Laser is more accurate and no way to detect it until you already been clocked 😂😂😂.

If I were the cop I would've thrown the book at you. 140 in a 55? You could've killed somebody had something happened that you didn't anticipate. If you're late, set your alarm earlier...
Source of frustration: Had a silver 08 335xi almost rear end me a couple weeks ago because "I'm $%^&ing late, idiot!" Smoked turn signals, plasti dipped wheels and the like. |

Clocked is done by distance over time. Not by Doppler/LASER devices.
Also, how much extra time would you have saved by going 10mph under your normal speed? How much time didn't you save by passing 4 vehicles at 120+mph and then being stopped by an L.E.O? |

No, it's called being responsible.
Passing 4 cars alone is reckless not even throwing in the stated speed. What if one of the leading cars came out to pass just at the same time the OP was putting the go pedal to the floor? I drive fast. I own and have owned fast cars since my teens. The difference is, my ventures into the triple digits are done on a dyno, track, no one in front of me late at night double lane, back road with no cross streets or driveways or somewhere else where the only possible deaths are the idiot (me) behind the wheel or the inocent piece of livestock that got in my way as I was tumbling over the fence post.... In PA doubling the posted is automatic lol... That would even include doing 30 in a 15 zone. |
