Suggestion for cell phone mount
Hi guys. My 235i is arriving tomorrow, can't wait!
I was wondering what cell phone mount you all are using. Primarily need it for an iPhone 6+ and prefer the "magnetic mount" types, and something that would be eye level (maybe vent mount, if those would fit)? Thanks. |

$8 at Amazon. Fits perfectly on any vent, unobtrusive when the phone isn't there. Two in my BMW, one in my wife's Subie, one in the Passat, one in my daughter's, one in her boyfriend's, etc.

This looks great. I have a Koomus magnetic one and it works well but much bigger, i like the smaller footprint of yours. But the mount doesn't swivel right? Does that get annoying? |

I know you said you wanted a magnetic mount at eye level, but I've been using a Ram mount X-clip with the cupholder attachment and i absolutely love it. very clean and doesn't block or interfere with much

been using the magnet one for 4 months and the metal sticker that goes on the back of the phone just gave out today.
Ordered one of the cradle types.

If you remove the ashtray, that space is the perfect size for medium sized smart phones. My Android Nexus fits perfectly in landscape mode.

Hasn't effected any of our phones at all. I put the little flat plates inside my phone's back on top of the battery, as I don't use a case. My wife (Android) and daughter (iPhone) place the plate inside the add-on cases they use on their phones. Sometimes the way you place a Samsung Android phone on the magnet triggers a "big clock" mode, but sliding it down a half inch on the mount turns that mode off. As noted above, all of us have the plates inside the phone or inside the case, so none of us are using the plate that sticks to the outside of the phone. I suppose if you use a phone that's sealed and also don't use a case, that could be an issue.

I have one of those magnet mounts and I loved it when I had my old truck, but I can't find a place to mount it in my M235. The iPhone 6+ is just too big I feel like it's in the way.
Unless you guys had some other suggestions!

Here's a terribly unfocused picture of my Note 4 (bigger than a 6+) on the mount as seen from the driver's position. Doesn't block anything from my view. Keeps my wife from seeing the right 1/3 of the iDrive display.

Phone mount
Here is what I did. A swivel magnetic mount I found on amazon for about $10. I had an old cell phone lying around, put Torque on it and used one of my OBD2 bluetooth adapters.

First interior pic of my thread shows what I did...I bought the Fuz Designs Everdock Go and just ran a cable neatly into my armrest. I can easily take the mount out if I need a second cupholder, but rarely do. Keep in mind I just looked and don't see the Everdock Go for sale anymore, but you may still be able to find it. Its quite nice

I've never been fond of the vent-type mounting car docks, and it's been a few years since I've used one. The way the M235i's dash is shaped these seem to be the best type for it, if you want it mounted higher. Here is the one I ordered. It has some decent reviews and I'm hoping they've improved from the ones I've dealt with in the past.

I went with the Proclip and it's been great. Got the snap in charger cable version and have the cable running down the center vent and back towards the armrest. Clean install look, sturdy, and the phone is just to the right of the nav screen. The vent is not completely blocked off either since it is offset from it.

I don't suggest using any phone mount. I have 3 BMWs and all they fully integrate with my phone through idrive screen - no reason to ever take it out from the handrest. Phone book, texts, emails, bmw apps to stream radio, etc.

The smartphone integration package is something I really would have wanted. My car came loaded and that's the one thing they didn't add. |

the integration is a bonus since I mainly have a phone holder for running/viewing Waze while in the car. I also prefer using waze or google maps for nav.
