IFTTT and Nov 15 F31
Anyone with an early Nov 2015 delivery F30/31 got the IFTTT widget?
Tried searching but no luck. I know it says on the guide up to builds in oct 2015, which seems arbitrary, maybe I missed the guy walking up the line with his memory stick by a day or so.

July 2015 LCI 330i and it has the widget. Just tried it and it emailed me the parking location when I put it into park. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't run in the background, you have to have it active in the split view.
Email has link to location on google maps plus Car Log Heading: SE Mileage: 4883 Travel range: 424.4 Latitude & Longitude: 51.54605399999999, -2.414309 Parked at: March 2, 2016 at 11:07AM |

I took delivery of my F30 in Week 2 of November and have the IFTTT widgets working fine. That said, having played with them for a day or two I've stopped using them because you have to have the widgets open in the split screen for them to work, you can't just run them in the background.

If This Then That. Its a sort of logic, if this happens then do this.
A very cool way of automating loads of technology. Home automation for example.

Account set up and linked. We use IFTTT for the lights and stuff at home, so would have been fun to mess with.

I'd guess privacy concerns as you could get it running on a spouse's car etc. Easily fixed by putting up a warning screen when the engine starts that you have to acknowledge.
Perhaps they are waiting to see how popular it is before making it work that way - it's a beta feature after all. |
