JB2R runs a 12.133 this weekend
JB2HR. I went to Famosa this weekend. I really wanted to move up on the Dragtimes.com listing since I only missed the 3rd spot by .005 of a second the other week. Everything was the same this weekend with the exception of taking off my stock 18” front run flats and installing my 245/35/19 Generals on 19” VM CSLs. The weather was average. On my last run it was 60F, 30.15”, 38F Dew Point, for a DA of 708FT. Nice sunny picnic weather, but nothing spectacular from a racing point of view. I hear Saturday was overcast and cooler. My runs were as follows:
12.227 @ 113.67MPH, 60FT:1.817 sec 12.319 @113.52MPH , 60FT, 1.854 sec 12.193 @ 113.60MPH, 60FT, 1.792 sec 12.133 @ 113.49MPH,60FT, 1.729 sec Interestingly enough, you can see my trap speeds were very consistent, all within .18mph of each other! I tried making a pass with 2 hot pills, but my car didn’t like it. Even though I only ran 107.x mph (no boost 2nd half of the run), I still got a 13.3x ET. But I ran a considerably faster 1/8mph. As usual, you had to wait forever between runs. But it was fun getting together with the car guys and sharing information and experiences. Josh, Craig, and Drew, it was great seeing all of you again. Other than the 17” DRs on the rear, 19 CSL/Generals on the front, 100 Octane Pump Gas and the JB2HR, my car is bone stock, no down pipes, exhaust, etc. I haven’t even reinstalled the K&N air filter that I removed last month. Many people at the track were pretty amazed how I was beating up on their V8s with so few modifications. People were saying what a sleeper our 335i BMW are! FYI, the night before at 47F sea level, I made 3 runs in the 115-115.2mph range on the Vbox. Last edited by hotrod182; 03-03-2008 at 08:55 AM.. |

Whats more amazing is he is not launchingthe car hard. We asked him to heat his tires as they will spit that car down the track much better heated. He does a "mild" burnout and does a 1.72 60 ft and a 12.13. He also saved me from needing a tow truck So here is how amazingthe 335 is, I have a CLS 63 and my car is 2/100ths quicker and 3 mph faster through the 1/4 for now. I think the two cars very very close in the 1/4 mile with the 1/8th mile dominance of the 335 putting it ahead until the turbos top out then the AMG starts a slight pull. As you can see from the slips the 335 was definately the fastest street trim non internally modded car at the track. It stirred some controversy amongst the racers. "So whats ur buddy really done to that bimmer" People were coming to my window " so you should race that white BMW, he is doing low 12's, F*** what the ***" One of these days we gotta do a BMW and Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, VW, German Invasion 2 rental so we can do some great vids and heads up races. BTW your 7.79 1/8th mile is faster than anything I have run. My best is 7.84, so you see those 1/8th mile splits are fantastic. |

even though he wasnt launching "hard" DR's are still VERY imortant to 1/4 mile times.

Seems to be a very important factor for the 335 and this was not a drag radial, it was a cheater SLICK, much much better than a DR. A drag radial is steel belted, offers little flex and has TREAD. You guys are very lucky to be able to fit this MT tire. |

We urged him to put some heat on those tires and his 60 ft came down , there is a little more room in it, 1.70 is likely on his set up. Definately high 11 second car with a more aggressive launch |

Me too!
The rear set up is truly spectacular and can shave .2-.4 seconds IMHO. Do it its not an expensive MOD. Kosei rims are 180.00 per and the tires likely about the same price. They do change the gearing and make the speedo go slower LOL, but you will reel off 11.90-12.20's all day in good weather. Warren is a scientist, he dissects each run and really adapts and try's all sorts of stuff. If you want 11 second passes the wheels are a huge piece of the puzzle. Still need to drive though |

Yes, the traction is definitely not optimized with my launch technique. On the last two runs I only did a little 1 second burnout to clear the tires of debris. Not heating them up whatsoever. I'm still not sure how much boost I can launch with, but I think a 1.6x is definely withing the realm of my car's capability. The tires are much taller than my stock set up, usually you would want to make a gearing change. In effect I am running even talling gearing and still getting decent times.
