Bav Sound Ghost undeseat Subwoofer

Just wondering about these

Have a 2014 335i with HK and want to do simple tweak to make BASS a bit better

These are most obvious but being in UK its a bit of a pain.

SO before I order just trying to gauge others experience of them and if any other alternatives are around

thanks

I am in a similar situation except that I am looking at replacing all the speakers on my base stereo equipped 428.
Don't fancy getting clobbered for import tax or having to deal with any possible warranty issues over 2 continents.
Have a look at these Rockford Fasgate direct replacements, they are more expensive, but are available from plenty of UK suppliers so no import tax to add, that could make them more competitive.

The HK subs are on 8 Ohm. Thus retrofitting 4 Ohm subs might not be the best for the OEM HK amp.

Maybe the HK subs aren't that bad. What about using an additional more powerful amp for the HK subs?

There are also Earthquake sws8 which I know have got good reviews.

See www.audiofile-incar.co.uk as they can supply and fit if required.

But they are only 4 or 2 Ohm als well, which is not really suitable for the HK amp with 8 Ohm on the sub channels.

thanks If the HK subs are definitely 8ohm each it be risky mixing any other impedance than 8ohm. Either chance of breaking the amp or the speaker I doubt the HK amp has the capacity to move between 8 and 4ohm

Spoke with in car audio and they went off on a tangent trying to sell me a full system install. Couldnt get a word in .
Usually would go for somethign but as might not keep the car for more than another year rather have something I can easy reverse and just improve the bass a bit. If I had a basic system then that be different but in HK case its just a bit better bass and you are on a acceptable leve

Really? I've always just seen 2 or 4 Ohm Earthquakes in 8" size.

If I were you, I'd try to feed the HK subs with an additional more powerful amp.

There are so many excellent options available in Europe, why would you guys be looking across the pond for something like this? Just to name a few...Jehnert, Audio System, Rainbow, Helix and Eton all have 8" underseat replacement options. I'm sure there are others as well.

Bavsound makes 2 (HIFI), 4 (Basic), and 8 (HK) ohms underseat sub for our rides. It is a small outfit so my experience getting my subs have been horrendous. One problem after another spanning 4 months and recent issue on sub installation, there were still no response after 1 week.

I got the stage 1 from them and it was relatively easy purchase but the free shipping is std shipping so will take a long time if international.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, the subs were newly launch so some of these delay could have been unavoidable. They should be properly staff for growing business. However, if this takes two years to develop, the technical issues I encounter should not have happened.

To cut a long story short, if I were to redo this again, I will source something available locally with good support.

But none if them is 8 Ohm considering this case with HK OEM system. Further probably only the Etons can handle the really deeper frequencies. But they are quite expensive 400€/pair.

Anyway, it's still much easier and cheaper to keep the HK subs (which are not that bad!) and power them with a better external amp!

Actually 400 euros a pair is still cheaper than bavsound. The key is to find 8ohm ones.

Extranl Amp if there was a plug and play option would be a good option but the only all I can find require serious reworking of wiring.

The 400€ was compared to the Earthquakes, which I've seen at US-Ebay for 200$/pair.

Ask "Technic" here in the forum, he can probably help you with a p&p harness and recommend an amp.
By the way somewhere even he has recommended to improve the HK subs by using a more powerful amp for them.

I bought the harness and LOC from technic and installed a JL audio 3 channel amp to at first up the power to my oem under seat subs. There was a noticeable improvement with just that alone but I found myself wanting just a little more "oomph". I bought a used JBL 10" sub in a nice small sealed enclosure and have more than enough bass now and am satisfied with the sound from my HK system using Glenn's eq settings from another post. All in all with the harness and amp and sub I'm into it for roughly $650 CAN dollars and have a pretty good sounding system. Of course I know one could get carried away and add better speakers and all but for me it's good enough..... For now. )
