Bavsound Underseat Sub installation problem on F30 base stereo
After close to 4 months, I finally received my subs. Further delay occurred when address was not entered correctly missing the unit#. My purchase destined to fail with so many confusion and the euphoria of waiting for it wane.
Excitement was momentary after I took out my stock enclosures and met with a sealed sub! No 4 screws as seen on video but two plastic taps and a sub glued very tightly all round to the enclosure! After trying for a while, it is apparent to me the sub won't come out without causing some damage to the stock sub and enclosure so installation was abandon. Any base stereo owner had same problem and kind enough to share how the problem was overcome?. Bavsound duly informed with pictures but I have not heard from them. Thanks!. Thanks.
Sigh! This should be told upfront so we know what to expect. I watched the video numerous times and was taken aback by the differences. I was at a friend's shop and there were no heat gun or hairdryer and I had to install it all back. I compared the HK enclosure and the basic one. The HK definitely has more volume. I am thinking if I should get at least the HIFI one but BMW only sell with the stock sub attached! Last edited by MSportTune2; 02-20-2016 at 07:51 AM.. |

I finally ordered a heat gun. Do you mind sharing what temperature you set and what nozzle you use to heat and remove the speakers? There aren't a lot of space where the sub seats into the enclosure and I don't want to melt the plastic in the process.

You can use a normal hair drier, no need to buy anything special. Just get a flat bladed screwdriver or equivalent to lever the speaker out of the enclosure whilst applying the heat.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have very crappy hair dryer so it will be very tough IMHO.
I will wait for my heat gun as I also need that to remove some stubborn sticky tape on my laundry room window. I am OCD when it comes to my ride so will treat it gently. |

I have the same problem
I found some second hand HIFI subs on ebay ans saved myself the terrible job of getting the stereo subs out of the enclosure |

I have just posted a similar question around the base system subs, I now know the answer! descent hair dryer(heat gun) or secondhand Hifi/HK subs. Thanks
