Poll: Which SSK do you want/like the most?

I have the OEM SSK, and love it. For the price ($183.00 from Tischer), it's very hard to beat considering you get a new boot, lever, circlip, plastic retainer and shift knob. From everything I've read, the AA unit does provide a 5% shorter throw (can you even measure that?), at the expense of a longer, much more involved installation /longer installation time and a higher price. The AA didn't make sense to me when I was considering the two.

The UUC is fairly new, so someone else has to give their opinion about it.

Ya, they only recently started selling the lever alone (bummer). If you go this route, I would get the circlip and retainer just in case. When we were taking my old plastic retainer out, it was a stubborn mofo that just wouldn't come out without destroying it. I like the short knob that comes with the kit, but others don't.

Get a Riss CDV while you're at it, since you'll be under the car anyway.

This might sound like a stupid question, but does the OEM ssk work for the E92 328? It says it fits the E90, E92 330, but there's no such thing as a 330 coupe. And if it doesn't, does anyone know of a ssk that does?

I dont think my 335i needs one. I have had short shifters on my last four Audis...and I do understand the benefits and disadvantages of having them. I am fine without it on my 335i.

I ordered the lever last week, how long did it take you for the install?

the BMW one is a perfect option. I would not want my through to be shorter. Just make sure you get a better gear knob because the one that comes with the kit is a piece of crap.

tranny life could get shorter, and some say it's easy to grind 1-2 for fast shifts.

Really? Tranny life would be shorter because of higher probability of grinding? Or is there something inherant to the mechanics that causes higher wear and tear?

you really think it is a perfect option? I'd really like to try this out. Are there any other differences from OEM besides shorter throws?

I jsut got the ssk lever installed and using ACS knob, completely changed the feel of shifts in a positive way, better review to come later.

lol gen e92. That girl in your sig looks EXACTLY like my buddy from Tiawan. Additionally, doesn't the OEM ssk change the overall position of the lever closer to the front of the car? Hence forth there is a longer reach for the odd gears??

I just received the Rogue Engineering SSK. Go to their website and you'll see the difference in the design. It's not just a shorter shift lever, but it's the entire mechanism that is tightened up and redesigned to be better.
It does cost a little more $300, but when you drive the car everyday, it's worth it.
