Polo GTI

Considering one of these to replace the Mrs Mini Cooper, originally we were looking for a 1.4 TSI GTI but they are holding there money quite well. We have looked at a brand new one, 1.8 t. Really like it and with the spec we can get one for £17k. Does anyone have any dealing with them? I know the old ones had a few issues with engines going.

For that money you not miles away from a pre reg golf gti. I got trough the post an invite from my local dealer offering £3000 off the list price for a new golf and around £2000 for a polo.

The 1.4 and 1.8 tsi still suffer from problems like the 2.0 on the gti and other vag models.

All comes down to the servicing. Do not set your car on the variable servicing and use fix.

I know for 17k you can't get a new mini but there are some good deals around.

My Good Lady has a Skoda Fabia vRS, which is a similar engine (1.4), although with more power(!).

She loves it, but it's only done 18k in 3.5 years. It doesn't get stick when she's driving it, and it mainly does short runs. (I'm not allowed to drive it often for some reason). Uses a bit of oil, as most do, but not excessive (unlike some of the earlier 1.4 engines). I like to change her cars at 3 years old, but she likes it that much she won't let me - and there's nothing out there she would want. She doesn't get on with the Polo seats as she has a bad back.

You can lease a Polo GTI for around £200 a month on a 3+23 8k miles a year if that's an option.

If I take this on pcp it's about £220 with £500 down which I don't think is too bad. I've never had a brand new car & I guess when the little ones come I'd just take this and sell the E92 and get her some sort of estate or SUV as I wouldn't mind driving the polo.
