Dash mat for 2 series?

Any of you guys use a dash mat on your 2 series? I know some people dislike them but i don't mind them and they help hide some of the wiring from my dash cam and radar detector as well as protect the dash from the sun.

I've checked out a few places online and i can't see any listed for the 2 series, i have however seen them available for the F20 1 series. Is the dash on the F20 the same as the F22?

I have a Valentine 1, located in WA.
M2 has the same dash design as the M235i i believe so doesn't sound like my chances of finding one is good then.

Unfortunately it does not pick up traffic light cameras, it does work pretty well and is definitely one of the best RD's on the market.

Do they still make dash mats? I haven't seen one since the 80's.

Modern plastics are much more UV resistant than they were years ago. If you did use a dash mat, you would be protecting the top of the dash, but as soon as it was removed you'd have a very noticeable line where the plastic had faded vs where it was covered.

If you want to protect the plastics from the sun, you'd be better off with tinted windows or one of the fold up windscreen mats to keep the sun & heat out.

If you want to hide the wiring from the radar detector, I would check the electronics forum. You can use an invisicord to wire the detector directly to your mirror, or hardwire it and run it under the top of the windscreen and down the A-pillar. I've done both options on my F30 and F23.

yep, I use a BlendMount mirror mount and a MirrorTap for my Passport 9500ix RD. Awesome! there are multiple threads in the DIY section that details how to set it up.
And Dash Mat? Seriously?? I just use a windshield reflector thing.

Escort mount alternative to the blend mount. I've had one for a few years now and works great - I like my detector up as high as possible and out of my sight line. Cannot beat the price and the quality is solid.

How do you guys see where you are driving with a Windscreen sun reflector up ? lol

I have a sun visor which i use when the car is parked, we are not allowed to tint the windscreen here but all the rest of the windows are tinted, i'm talking about protecting the dash when you are driving and the sun is blaring in. Remember i am in Australia, it tends to get damn warm here for long periods of time.

How do you like your valentine 1? Has it saved you? Trying to decide between that and the Escort Passport. I've read a few reviews about the Passport that implied it missed a few positives.

I couldn't exactly say it's saved me, i do try to adhere to the speed limit as much as possible, it has however alerted me many times to cameras hidden that i probably wouldn't of otherwise seen.

You still have to be mindful of cameras that catch you from behind though, the V1 will alert you to these however it is often too late by then if you were speeding.

I guess the point is, the dash really does not need that much protection. Modern plastics are far more UV resistant than ones used decades ago.

Believe there are clear tints you can apply to the windshield to drastically reduce heat, glare etc and provide UV protection. I had my house done, for instance, and the difference is quite noticeable.
