Dinan Springs?
Sooo....having introduced myself last week as being a wee bit disappointed with my 2013 F30 328i XDrive,(which I got a bit of a flaming for), I am reading good reports about the Dinan Spring lowering kit, (30% stiffer than stock)...for about $500 this seems like a good start to address my car's highway instability and general mushyness....
Anyone done this conversion....would you do it again? Thanks |

[QUOTE=otay;19361440]There's a separate Suspension section here with lots of info on springs. Dinan look to be good, I'm considering myself...[/QUOTE
Yes I see that....still finding my way around this excellent BB... Also wondering if Bilstein B8s would HAVE to be fitted or could the stock shocks cope? Thinking the stock shocks may be overwhelmed by the harder spring rate. Opinions? |

Stock shocks are fine. It'll be bouncier though. If you can swing the Shockware flash at the same time (assuming you have adaptive suspension), it'll be a better match.
For once in my life, I'd actually recommend coilovers over a spring/strut combo for the F-series BMW even if it's a street car. |

Soft OEM shocks. Despite Dinan springs being relatively mild in terms of drop and stiffness, the ride becomes pretty bouncy. Add a stiffer set of springs (i.e. the H&R Sports or Super Sports) and it's even worse. The Bilstein shocks help, but it doesn't appear they're a good match for lowering springs on this chassis due to all the trashed OEM top hats (http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1082735). Bilstein's + lowering springs + camber plates would likely be a great setup.
That said, with a coilover setup, you're getting a matched spring/shock combo. It's a complete solution. Typically, I just don't think coilovers are ideal for a street car. |

I had dinan springs + bump stops on my wife's last 328i xdrive with standard shocks, and the ride was so horrible and bouncy that after six months, I cut my losses and replaced it with KW coilover. The ride was 10 times better.
Don't just do lowering springs on stock shocks. You'll regret it and end up spending more money on labor and losing money on trying to sell used goods.

Kw street comfort is a good option from what I've read. Not cheap by any means but they are definitely geared towards daily driving as opposed to the track so should be a great choice.
