upgrade to M4 or GTR?
haven't been on here for ages, anyway, depending how things go I'm looking to upgrade to either a 2014 M4 or 2012+ Nissan GTR R35. Don't know if I should stick with BMW and rwd or try something different like a GTR.
Driven both and I love the M4, the interior is nice, gearbox is great, feels similar but somehow different at the same time. But I also love the GTR. The sound of the tranny and little stuff like that I like, and the acceleration is :O This isn't something thats definite so just wanna know what other people think. oh and both would most likely stay stock except maybe a tune and exhaust

GTR interior imo is bloody terrible, tranny is harsh, drivetrains clunky but Jesus they go and sound much better than an M4
As a daily the m4 would be more practical and comfortable, but gtr as you know is a weapon |

I love my BM but a mate of mine has a GTR tuned for straight e85 and that thing is nuts. Only mods were the injectors and the exhaust from Nissan and OMG!! Essentially stock car that was just an animal but was comfortable to just cruise as a daily.
GTR for sure. |

So many GTR lovers here.. lol.. Must have all been JDM boys before the bimmer. (I was too before people get offended)
Personally, i dont like the GTR. But if you're looking for a fast car off the production line, and that's all you want... then GTR. For what BMW calls the 'Ultimate Driving experience', go with a Euro. I still remember the first time i sat in the drivers seat of the BMW.. It was amazing.. (not so in the GTR). |

Really ??! First time I rode in a r35 gtr with Cobb tuning etc I was abit to blow my load and pee my pants at the same time .... The newer models do look alittle funny though but like how the later model e92 the front end looks alittle thin to me lol |

Agreed with this, if it's going to be occasional use for a quick blast or something then GTR. Anything more than that M4. Personally I'm not really a GTR fan but in this case I'd take it if you have another daily anyway.

I know the r35 gtr has a clunky cruising trans etc but I kinda like its rough and tough .....I love my 335i and yes it's smooth but it burbles and pops and shows some teeth

Yes, the GTR is faster, so if that's important to you - get it. Have a look at this thread for more info. Maintenance on the GTR can be pretty high. Finally, I am just starting to look at these kind of cars as a 3 - 5 year exercise, not a 30 year commitment. Just get the best deal you can now (which might dictate what you get) and live with it for a few year and then move on to something else. That's sort of what I did - I wasn't really looking for an M4 convertible, I was looking for a 2012 911s but the M4 was a much better deal and as it turns out much more practical. |

Actually what's the price difference between the m4 and gtr firstly ??! And then maintence prices ??? Now keep in mind you'll have better scope with the gtr since m4 is still new and issues down the track haven't been uncovered yet lol I do love the looks and stance of the m4 but the GTR will always be special
