F30 300D Ecotune Remap

Afternoon all,

I'm considering a remap for the 330D and Ecotune seem to get raving reviews.

Has anyone mapped their 330D with Ecotune? If so, was it worth the £500?

The car is still in warranty, and not sure what the impact on this will be. Has anyone had any issues with an ECU remap (not box) when to comes to warranty claims?

Cheers
MP

Depends on what value you place on the drivetrain part of your warranty, and a few other factors, like future value of the car.

Yes you can go the Ecotune route, but BMW offer their own remap in the form of the PPK, which is roughly double the price, but cones with an uprated intercooler, is fully warranteed and can never be wiped like a remap can.

Think this has been the more popular option on here.

If I were to ever go down the remap route I would certainly choose one that would not invalidate my warranty. I'm not sure I could live with the risk of something hugely expensive going wrong and having to shell out for it.

Unless something has changed very recently then ecotune will need to remove and open your ecu to apply the remap. Were it me I wouldn't be doing this on a car under warranty.

I had ecotune's remap on my E91 335d, it was very impressive and ran faultlessly so I'd have no issue reccomending their remap were it via OBD port.

I would also add to the warranty bit, a car under pcp or lease.

Not saying not do it, just people need to be very aware the world of pain that 'could' happen.

As above

There was a thread on here where BMWFS were getting picky on someone's pcp,as he'd modified his car.

I had a custom remap on my S3 a few years ago. Car was a year old so under warranty when I cracked the turbo. I had the map removed before It went back to Audi, luckily the people who remapped it could come to me as I couldn't drive far as i was leaking lots of oil. Even though the map was removed if they had dug deeper they would have been able to find out that the car had been played with. Luckily they didn't do that digging and it was covered under warranty and I avoided a very large bill and my drivetrain warranty being voided. I was concerned the whole time it was in that I'd get the call saying they'd found it. I've remapped/tuned every car i've had over the last 12 years and would do it again to a warrantied car as i think the gains are worth the risk, but have to say having the MPPK this time and not having any concerns about taking it into the dealership is very nice!

Good stuff, I'll need to look into that, keen on a remap but a bit apprehensive with an independent tuner with regards to the warranty

I have a 330d Touring and have often wondered about PPK. Last time I looked it was not listed as an option for the F31 whereas it was for the F30. Now obviously there is no technical reason they can't do it as the engines are identical, but of interest might they refuse? Has any F31 owner here had it done?
