Anyone else a little nervous???
The M2 will be the first car I have ever bought before driving one or even seeing one in person. Anyone else a little nervous?? I have driven the M235i and it was very good so I doubt BMW will mess the M2 up but it is a big chunk of money to spend without first hand knowlege.

I never test drive. I buy cars with my heart and set it as a goal to get it so I'm always satisfied as it is the car I want no matter what. When the love dies you find a new one...

I can't remember the last car I've test driven before purchase... this one will be no different.

If you want test drives go and buy something off the peg from Ford etc
I never get to test drive the new cars I buy as they tend to be more exclusive models, such as the M2 - and well, whats not to like?

For the record, I've been waiting the last 3 years to buy another car and originally was going to get an E92 M3 last summer, but this car came onto my radar. After seeing the rave reviews for the M235i and the fact that the car was similar in dimensions to the e46 M3, I was sold. I was really waiting on the price/looks etc and the longer I waited, the more "affordable" it became due to me saving. Last edited by MTHRAR; 01-23-2016 at 08:45 AM.. |

the only thing that really concerns me about NOT driving this car before I buy is their admitted removal of sound deadening material.
how much was removed? what is the road noise going to be? Will it drone? this will be my DD, my sanctuary, my escape. What do you all think about my concern?

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited and 99.999% sure I will love the car but the control freak in me would like to experience it before I am all in.

There were several complaints with the Audi TT RS in 2012/2013 but one that everyone mentioned was that it was too noisy and droned. Really hoping BMW doesn't mess up in this area. I want light weight as much as the next guy but if the car is loud I would rather have an M3.

I know what I like and what I hate. Only one way to make sure I'm happy is test drive before purchasing. You're in a bit of a dilemma because the car won't be out for a while and there's the potential for a long wait. So if you cannot wait it makes sense why you're getting the car without a test drive. Highly doubt you'll be unhappy with the car, but there may be little things about it that annoy you. If that sort of stuff doesn't bother you then start spending more time being impatient and less time worrying. If you want to make yourself feel a little better go test drive an M235i and think of how much better the M2 is going to be.

Ordered the E92 in June 2006 after seeing the N54 engine on the BMWNA site. car had not even landed in the states yet. Car arrived in Sept 06 and was more fun than I could have imagined. I feel the M2 will be just as fun without having driven it. I did drive the M3 and was a blast. Definitely suggest taking one out.

Best option right now in my opinion - drive 435 then immediately after drive the M4. Since you liked the M235, apply the 435 vs M4 comparison to that. So if the ride in the M4 is too stiff, etc you can translate that delta to what you'd anticipate for the gap between 235 and M2.

I actually even refused to see it in person until my own car arrives. Took a lot for me not to go to the auto show this year.

Haha I love it. Taking delivery is going to be epic for you. Well, I haven't seen it in MG, so there's still an element of surprise for me too!

Yes, I am very excited about this car. I haven't been in a BMW since my 2007 E90 335i, which I enjoyed but took the wrong direction with mod-wise and it kind of killed my experience later on down the line. But this time, I plan on enjoying/driving the shit out of this thing. Comes with the age, I suppose. Lol.

I didn't refuse to see it in person, but I'm much in the same boat. Going in mostly blind. If this car is even close to the M4 or the 1M, it's going to be shenanigans.
