moron tire shop mounted tires on my m3 reps but didnt balance them!!!
I told them to mount and balance them. I go to pick them up and was shocked by how cheap it was. not thinking I brought them home and didnt see any weights. Who the hell just wants tires mounted???? idiots. is it possible to drive 5 miles or so with them not balanced or will they shake off the car? Atleast they look good lol

Wow...wow! Talk about S.T.U.P.I.D. If you have to drive with them, just don't go on the highway if possible.

Or....those wheels could be super true, and not need any weights as I have had a few wheels that don't need any weights...but I doubt that's the case...

Im sure they would have been shocked and told me they didnt need any.Another member who has these spun them on a balancing machine and was shocked they they didnt need any weights.I wish this were the case. Its just such a dumb thing to do.what did they think I was going to balance them in my driveway.so dumb.

Yea, that's definitely the shop's dumb mistake. You'll be fine to drive it back to the shop. An unbalanced wheel isn't going to damage anything if you get it back to the shop asap.

Actually, I think you are wasting your money having them balanced UNLESS, they are being balanced using the Hunter GSP balancing system. All other systems are inferior and it is just luck if they actually get close to balancing a low profile tire. You might get lucky and be OK at speeds lower than 80mph, but find a shop that has the Hunter system and have them balance the TIRES AND WHEELS accurately.

I find this to be unbelievable. So they put the tires on, inflate them, and mount them? I mean it should come naturally like a 2nd nature already to balance the wheels...since you never skip that process.

You said you'd get pics up soon early this afternoon. This is highly unacceptable! We need pictures- that way we can adequately determine if they need balancing....

I had a worse experience last week. Tires were balanced on a machine that's out of calibration, and I drove 400 miles home with it...shaking the entire time. Must've decreased my shock life by a few K miles if not more. It's hard to feel your wheels out of balance when you're stuck in LA traffic going less than 50mph.
Couldn't stand it so I rushed to a regular balancer after I got back to the Bay Area, nothing fancy...a guy had a new Hunter DSP9100. Now it's so much better, but not perfect. Can still feel slight vibrations at 85mph, but no more massage chair type of experience. I'm glad nothing in my car sounds loose or is rattling after 400 miles of shaking. I wish I had time to read up on the Hunter GSP9700 before I went to the shop. I'm fully up to speed now, and really regret not getting my wheels balanced on that machine. I wonder if it it would've taken care of this last bit of vibration. This is a good website that has a shop locator utility. This link is almost good enough to start a new thread, but I'll pop it here http://www.gsp9700.com/index.cfm
