SMG Transmission kit

Does anyone know if it's possible to SMG an E90 325I Sedan? And if so can you give me a site?

I think it would be useless on a non-M car. But if I were you, I'd look for something like the ZF tranny on the 335's.

I think that it would not be impossible to go from an e46 manual to an e46 SMG, but seeing as there has not been a SMG gearbox designed for the e90, I would say it would almost impossible. I am sure the right amount of money could get you moving in the right direction, but with what you would have to spend, you might as well toss in the DSG from the Veyron or the F1 tranny from the 430 Scuderia. Sorry not to have been much help, but best of luck to you.

I think your easiest solution is to sell the e90 and buy either a e46 SMG or E60 M5/6 SMG...

Or you can hire MITE46 and see if he'll do it for you. If your not familiar with who he is, he swaped his e46 323 with a S54 engine and did a full SMG tramission swap as well. And he did that all by himself.

Someone a long long time ago with an E46 330i did a swap for an SMG +S54 motor .. Ended up taking months and months and a lot of programing, basically he wanted a 4 door 3 series instead of an M3 but if I recall right it would be been cheaper to buy a M5.

yea its just not practical,

unless you wanted a show car to stand out from the crowd.

I believe the Hartge H50 is the only E9X with an SMG transmission, but it has the entire M5 drivetrain (5.0L V10, 7 speed smg...etc). It may be possible to swap the less advanced SSG (also called SMG in the states) from the E46 325/330i, E60 5 series and Z4, as the 5 and Z4 use the N series engines.

either way it will be a very expensive swap and not worth it at all. wait for the new m3 with the DCT to come out...its way better than any SMG.

+1 Don't try to make the car something that it's not. If you can afford this mod (if it's even possible), sell the car and buy a 335i with the ZF or an M3.

SMG sucks anyways, only works well on a track and terrible for everyday driving.

Yea, that comment came off pretty bad... no hate intended against 325s, was joking around trying to quote someone from another of his posts, but it came off pretty negative, I wouldnt put an SMG on a 330 either but thats not the point.

After reading this post the other day, I was looking around and came across a link to a guy from MIT's webpage, I'm sure you all know who I am talking about, that turned his 4 door E46 into an all out M3

Spent a while reading all that he did out of pure interest, really amazing stuff!! It took him over 2 years to do it but the final product is absolutely amazing! After reading all that, I have to believe that anything is possible if you have the knowhow, extra cash and the patience!
