Hmmm! I see by your Avatar that you ride a proper bike....

I've got an ER6-F that I got as a first bike but too small for touring.

Currently most of my time on a Harley V Rod which is surprisingly fun. Goes OK in a straight line for me but is a bugger to get round the hairpins and not much fun at 90 on the motorway...

I wanted a tourer.

Went and rode the BMW1200RT and then 1200 Triumph Trophy the day after.

Bought the Trophy without a moments doubt. Don't know if it was just the RT that I rode but the BMW gearbox was shite and the Trophy was the far better handling bike and I just felt at home on it straight away. It's a big bike but the weight just seems to disappear as soon as you are on the move.

Be aware, some early Trophies had problems. Mine is a launch version with all the extras fitted as standard and had the cylinder head replaced at the factory as a recall but that issue was sorted ages ago and I haven't had any other problems with mine in 12,000 miles.

Go and do a few test rides and have fun and if you want any info on the Trophy just ask.

Was the BMW you tried the 2014 onwards version or the previous? I know the gearboxes were naff before that.

Will obviously ride a few but other peoples experiences are always good to know.

The RT that I rode was a 13 plate. My Trophy is a 62 plate.
