Alternatives to Mont Blanc
Its time to replace my trusty pen - but every man and his dog has the Mont Blanc now. Any thoughts on this?
http://www.cross.com/en/GB/townsend-...point-pen.aspx I fancy something with a bit of personality but not OTT. |

This is what christmas is for!
I'm the sort of person that if i want something i go buy it which makes it very hard for people to buy for me. Every year i just ask for a nice pen. I now have quite a nice collection of Cross, Parker and Schaffer pens |

If you fancy a fountain, give Lamy or Pilot a go - can get prestigious, premium models but from the bottom of the range up, they write superbly.
The Lamy Al-Star's I have write better than the Cartier in my collection. It cost less than 5% of the Cartier! However, the best pen I have is a Pilot Demonstrator - clear body with integrated reservoir - so lovely to look at, especially when combined with a J Herbin ink; currently using Stormy Grey which I'd grey-black with gold coloured particles - adds an amazing shimmer like a metallic paint - a Citrine Black almost!! Hunt out a Pilot or Lamy, I guarantee you won't be disappointed and your budget will go much further. Especially if you already have a "statement" pen (MB). |

MB for 10+ years now - well made; nice to write with.
Like many things, depends whether you value function over form. Anyone fancy part-Xing their F3X for a Dacia ?

Note taking and meeting minutes are for PA's etc. Everything else is electronic. Being left handed fountain pens have always been 'fun' to use lol. |

I used our Sales Directors MB pen to open a delivery, he wasn't too happy about it It had a terrible Toroiseshell thing going on. Ugh.
I quite the mimimalist style Porsche pens (but the options are crazy )
