F48 X1 Accessories

Hey guys I thought I would start a thread specifically regarding official and aftermarket F48 X1 accessories.

Has anyone seen the aluminium boot edge protector anywhere? I've seen it in photos for the press and in the launch vehicles, but haven't found it in any accessories list.

Thanks for starting this thread. I am looking for seat protection to place under the Baby Seats as well as plastic protection on the back of the front seats from my kids feet...

Thanks for posting that Bluezd, looks just what I need, please can you let us know with a quick update if it is okay when you get it. If so I think I'll get one. The top of the bumper is where all the mud sits and mine is bound to get scratched getting my bike in and out + trips to the dump. Mine being black really also shows even slight scratches!

Thanks for starting this thread. I picked up my BMW Genuine all weather mats the other day. WeatherTech UK didn't reply to my enquiry and didn't want to wait.

Would love to hear more about mud flaps and whether they'll need rear wheels to be removed for installation. Some models do, some don't. Rear rivets in F30 for example are close to the edge of the bumper and there's no need to remove the wheels.

As standard equipment? Maybe standard equipment is different in Australia? I received my Euro Delivery in mid-December and there was no loading sill. Bummer... would have been nice to have that...

That's really interesting about the stainless steel sill, haven't seen that mentioned in Australian brochure or spec guide. Would be nice if true though. Anyone picked up a Nov-built car who can verify this?

It looks like that stainless steel sill could be "Loading sill cover" ArtNr: 51477331417 or 51477413689

Oh I just went through the brochure and found that line in the very fine print at bottom Page 41. That's the international brochure so hopefully applies to all cars built after that date. Doesn't sound 100% definite though the way it is worded.

Thanks, that diagram would appear to indicate the stainless steel sill cover is available as a spare part (ie. a factory fitted part of the car) rather than an accessory.

Edit: Just saw a dealer-listed M-Sport (presumably built Nov '15 onwards) with the sill cover. So it seems the brochure info is correct.

Just had a reply from BMW UK about mud flaps.

They have just been released and part numbers are:-
82 16 2 365 719 (front) and 82 16 2 365 720 (rear).

My local dealer has to order them from Germany so it's pay in advance and up to 15 working days to get them. £57.00 including vat for each pair.

Couldn't get any info on fitting so don't know if any drilling is required?
Also they won't fit M Sport versions.

Great news on the mud flaps! They are really needed with my winter wheel setup. I will have to swing by the dealership to grab a set.

Mud Flaps

So much for the long delivery time, I had a call from the dealer the day after ordering to say they were in!!
I attach some pictures of them fitted.
No issues concerning fitting. Didn't even have to take the wheels off although might have made it slightly easier.
Front flaps required 2 holes to be drilled into the inner plastic wheel arch cover to fit 2 self tapping bolts.
Rear flaps required just one hole being pushed through the inner wheel arch fabric cover just to start the self taper screw.
Each rear flap has two parts but it is easy to figure out where the small inner cover fits (to stop too much dirt filling the mud flap).

Apart from above, all the new fittings used existing holes but no instructions are supplied.

Although not for the X1, I found the attached PDF file helpful for some hints about fitting.

Top man.

How did you drill the rear arches without taking the wheels off?

The fixing you need to drill (or you can just push a small hole through with a bradawl) is right inside the wheel arch - towards the centre of the car. I just slid underneath the back and was able to reach it fairly easily. It is only a fabric type material and not hard plastic as it is in the front. If you wanted to drill it there is plenty of room for the drill on the inside of the wheel. If you want any more info or pictures let me know - only too pleased to help.

Cheers. I got RFTs and no jack. So removing the rear wheels will be a real pain. But I know what you mean by "fabric" wheel arches. Should be easy to push in a hole without the need for a drill. Just to be safe though, I'll wait a couple of weeks (or months) for the PDF instructions to surface. Will decide then.
