Alfa Giulia
As the Giulia is aimed square at BMW drivers, I thought it be interesting to get your perspective on it.
Myself I've owned 6 Alfa's, some 156's, Mito, 159, Giulietta QV. The only one that wasn't reliable was a 159, which ate it's own engine (lovely car though).. Some of the 156's had a 2.4JTDM 175 HP and rocked well over 40MPG even when pushing hard, so pretty sweet really for an old car.. One of them lasted 220K miles, before I ultimatley (as I do) got bored of it. The Giulietta QV for me, was a bit cheap and boring (rapid when it gets going) bit average at best everywhere else. So I don't mind the cars really, can't say I'm a fan of the dealers. Alfa have shut a lot of them down and replaced which has helped. Fiat tend to make daft decisions as well.. Again as BMW are going for Alfa drivers, would you be interested? Personally for me, it just depends on price and dealers. Some info: Benzina: - 2.0 turbo 133 kW (180 hp) - 2.0 turbo 184 kW (250 hp) - 2.0 turbo 243 kW (330 hp) - 2.9 V6 Twin Turbo 375 kW (510 hp) Diesel: - 2.2 Multijet 99 kW (135 hp) - 2.2 Multijet 133 kW (180 hp) - 2.2 Multijet 154 kW (207 hp) - 3.0 V6 Twin Turbo 250 kW (340 hp). |

If the price is right for the more sporty models, then I would be interested. I wonder how the depreciation will be?

I would definitely be interested. But I would need to see more of it, as I'm not into the Giulietta and Mito design. I don't like the front end, which the new Giulietta appears to have picked up.
I hate the fact that there is so little choice in the mid-sized family car sector. The only people who have a love of cars as opposed to automotive modes of transport have always been us Brits and the Italians, just a shame the Germans have convinced us that we can't build them. Money rules and I've got a BMW, which is OK but it just doesn't feel all that special, sorry to say. |

Because I was an FCA customer, the GQV was going for something like 30K and I got it for a smidge under 23K.. Which seriously ain't bad for what you got, 240HP engine, sat nav, auto / TCT box / heated seats, DAB, leather, 18" QV wheels.. List goes on, you couldn't even get a Focus ST equiv for that. So it really depends how much you like it and if you'd want another in the future I guess. |

But that wasn't the issue, it didn't feel special to drive and that was a major bugbear. Reliability is important and I'm sure Alfa could probably beat rivals at their own game, but the whole point in Alfa was it's something different. From a design / spec perspective, it looks like they're trying to beat Audi / Merc and BMW at their own game. Which is fine, I just hope it doesn't detract from the experience because of it. There's a boat load of 320's on the road, I mean a silly amount. But the 335D / 340i is something a bit special (I saw an article saying they don't sell much (at all). It might not look it (as it looks like every other BMW) but it's nice to drive and that's good enough for me. Wills2 Yes, it is RWD. Last edited by Firaxis; 01-06-2016 at 07:52 AM.. |

I had a 156 with the JTD 20v engine and thought it was a great engine in search of a better home. The car itself was very average to drive - but I always got out and turned and looked back and it was definitely more distinctive than the 330d that followed.
I'd have another Alfa if it made me feel special in it - but only if it drove decently (as good as an Audi say) and not in first year of life - wait until they have been doing them 18 months and have finished product development! Ian |

The shots of the QV look stunning - so much more emotive than all the German competition. I'm wondering how much of that will be retained down the lineup as the QV is the M3 competitor. If you take away the design flourishes, you have a very standard saloon sitting underneath.
I'm loathe to adopt a brand new model at launch, just don't trust any make enough! Would absolutely consider it 3 years down the line. Drove my cousins GTV back in the day and it was a lot of fun. |

It looks stunning and hopefully Alfa have sorted the reliability issues that plagued models designed before 2009/10. It's released in 3Q2016 I think and will definitely be a contender for my next company car along with a Mustang and a 430 GC Edit: at £55-65k maybe not! |

Bearing in mind the Giliua is more powerful than an M3, it's ok. Doesn't exactly make me want me to rush out, if they'd do a QV for around 45K then urr yeah.. Would be on it. What would be (for me) absolutey perfect is the 3.0 V6 twin turbo diesel Alfa (340HP) with a PPK equivalent.. Get around 380 HP under warranty then I'm all Giulia. Alfa dealer network is dire though.

Could potentially be interested in the two higher powered petrols or the top diesel when I come to change, assuming the PCP/PCH deals are competitive.

Reason I jumped to conclusions there, is because I actually did get 12K off my car (335D Xdrive).. So the deal structure seemed similar, I didn't question it. |
