BMW M Performance Power Kit for 320d

Weirdly I've found very little on this and even after Googling, all I've found is a few videos, some dyno graphs (with promising results), and that's about it.

Does anyone have any part numbers, pricing and installation information?

Specifically costs. I'm getting my 320d F31 serviced on Monday and I'd like to find out more about this as the garage is offering 12 months interest free finance and it's very tempting but I'd like to go in armed with pricing and knowledge on the kit.

Cheers!

realoem....you learn new things every day!

So it turns out this is the kit I would have to buy:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...37#11122293936

And pricing is around €1,000:

http://www.leebmann24.de/power-kit-m...122293936.html

However does anyone have any real world pricing. That is to say, purchased and fitted. I can't imagine more than €400-€500 more for labour. I'm hoping a lot less to be honest!

Now the US is slowly waking up, I was wondering if anyone had any input on this.

I can buy the kit for €1,050 including delivery but I'm wondering if I can retrofit this with my local (very good), mechanic, or does this have to be done with BMW to retain the warranty?

ETA: Any idea where I can get any product documentation on this kit? An installation guide would be great to have just for reference and to understand exactly what's needed in terms of labour. I've seen some references mentioning the installation can take 1.5 hours so in my case, it should cost no more than €150 to get it installed...

Anyone?

I'm a little surprised nobody has chipped in on this. Maybe it's a first on bimmerpost or are people really not that interested with the BMW Performance Power Kit?

I'm hoping to get the first quote on Monday but it would have been great to get a guide price on the install from others who've had this done.....

I think it's a first on Bimmerpost, the people who do buy the MPPK usually slaps it on their 335i's... Haven't seen anyone doing it on the 320d though

It's not available for US Spec diesels, so no one would really know how to go about helping you. I for one know I'd be the first to sign up for it if and when it became available over here though

In which case I'll keep you posted. I've found one post on another forum indicating it's not a straight forward plug and play.

Once installed, it has to be coded by BMW in Munich so I'm told so some dealers don't like to play with it. I've got three independent dealers in my area so I'm hoping my main dealer agrees to do the installation at a decent price.

If they overcharge for the kit, I can always pick it up for €1,020 and have a dealer install it for me but I'd rather avoid all the hassle.

I was quoted £950 supplied and fitted to my new 320d. When my LCI model was delivered to the dealership it was only then they found out it wasn't currently available for the new engine. Apparently it's expected to be released sometime this year.

Cheers for that. I've just had a quote from my dealer in Spain and he's given me a price of €1635.68 or £1225.44 in sterling.

Not a bad price, but I'll try and negotiate something with them. I'm just about to drop €1,000 for a new service package come April-time along with new rubber so I'm sure they'll be able to knock a good chunk off the price if I do it all in one whack.

Interestingly I found this dyno chart for a 420d which is the same engine as mine with the performance kit fitted. It's not a bad increase in power but more importantly, it's warrantied by BMW which is great for re-sale and also no need to worry when taking the car to the garage for any servicing.

If you are from Spain check some German forums. E.g. at Motor-talk.de or f30-forum.de several people have installed 320d PPK. You can post in English, most of them speak English.

I know of BMW Matthes in Germany, they have very good offers for PPK (999€ incl. labour) and all kind of retrofits.

Cheers for that. I'm not entirely happy with my dealer quote as they are suggesting it will take 6 hours to install the kit and by account of what I've researched, BMW suggest it should take between 1.5-2 hours.

I've messaged Matthes to see if they will sell me the kit and perhaps I can get a better price from them and have my local dealer install it once I get a correct quote for the labour time.

Just an update on this thread. I've got a new quote from another BMW dealer offering me the PPK for €1327 so I'm definitely making progress.

I just need to play them against each other and eventually I'll get the price I want!

I have the MPPK installed in my 320d F31.
I had the "163 bhp" version, so my car felt like a different car when installed

Hi Beanbaguk

Did you pull the trigger and get the upgrade? I'm also based in the Costa del sol, I spoke twice with Ace 99 motors in Marbella and they haven't bothered to get back to me and confirm availability.

If you have had it done let me know how you got on, what you paid and how it drive.

Cheers

Sadly I didn't get it in the end. I bought a house instead!

If I'm honest, I don't think I'll have many upgrades happening any time soon, however on the upside, I've got myself a drive-in man-cave so all funds will be going to my new home.

It's a huge project for the whole house but I plan to give the man-cave an industrial concrete finish on the walls, install ample lighting, finish the floor with probably an epoxy gloss finish, install air-con, gym, and work bench for man-tools.

I'm also toying with the idea of a pool table, couch and TV.

Anyway. I'm short on funds for car upgrades for the next two years!

Trust me, the US is certainly NOT "waking up". LMAO

We still barely get any diesel vehicles and the ones we do get are all the low spec 4 cylinder ones. The only place we get anything bigger is in the stupid SUVs.

There are still more silly electrics over here than diesels, even though no one is buying them.

We keep bugging Dinan to develop tunes and upgrades for them but there's just no market for them.

Sigh.......maybe I should move to the Isle of Man.........LMAO

The TDI's have several options for tuning goes, but most of the US don't know about the 3 series diesels, so no one is buying them, and since the diesel-gate thing, we can expect that trend to worsen.

I called the local dealership to find the prices for the 320d MPPK.
They've just called me and said that BMW discontinued the MPPK option.

Is it possible that they discontinued it only in Europe?

Do you guys have any more info on this?

I had my mppk installed a week ago, so it's not discontinued here in Norway.

Excellent. Thank you Olram for the reply.

I guess I better ask around some more.
I am pretty sure that if you could order it in Norway last week, then I should be able to order it elsewhere too.

How is the upgrade? How does the car feel after installing it?
I am interested how it affects acceleration at higher speeds (80 - 130 kph).
Currently the car feels a bit underpowered in this range.

Dear Combi.

I had the downtuned Version of 163 hp, so the difference is quite significant.
At least from around 60-70 kph and up. There is not that much difference from zero to 60-70.

The car feels much more "willing" and quicker if you know what I mean. And the extra torque is well noticed

But it is by no means in the League of the 30d and 35d.
