Interesting cars you / your family have had.
I thought it might be interesting to see some of the stuff you or your family have had in the the past or present, I often find that people who are enthusiastic about cars tend to have a family background in them.
I'll start off with my dad who is now retired but spent most of his working life self employed in the motor trade and now restores classic cars as a hobby / investment. This is his Truimph TR5 that he took in part exchange in the early 70's against a Hillman Imp it's had a mild restoration about 10 years ago but is very much original He recently bought this series 1 Land Rover and started the restoration in the summer, and yes he drives round in it in this state He also has a Frogeye Sprite that is half way through a restoration, I've only got a pic of this sorry looking bonnet And this is his 1932 MG J2 that he restored to concours condition over a 15 year period, he won many awards with this car, he needed the space so it now resides in a collection in Germany And a pic of my Z4M at the EVO Triangle with my brothers track prepared Elise And my 2 S2000's Oh and from my boy racer days.... This is just a few of the more interesting ones we've had. Anybody else with anything interesting? |

I've been lucky to have had a rich and interesting life around cars...
My Dad always had interesting cars.. All sorts of things, including an original type BMW 6 series (a '78 car) that he used to lend me when I was driving at 17.. Various family friends have had all sorts of fancy cars (road and race) over the years.. Stand out road cars included a chap who had a 924 Carerra GT... And a few astons and things... My own car porn dabbling includes an E30 M3 (original lhd uk Import) and a Gen 2 997 GT3....

First one was bought new, MY99 WRX 5 door in Mica Blue. Totally standard.
Current one was bought at 18 months old with 4000m on it! I had a Prodrive pack put on it when I bought it but again apart from that it is pretty much standard. Thinking of selling it as it hardly gets used these days. Only picture I have is with it behind my bike. Dave.

My dad, God rest him, owned utterly boring cars : Austin Mini, Austin Maxi, Wolsely somethingorother, Peugeot 504 (7 seat estate; a PROPER hearse !), Peugeot 309. Plainly not a car nut - if it got from A to B and could haul us and the boat, he was happy.

My father in law is more of a car nut than my dad, in the last couple of years he's had a MG midget, a MG B, we even managed to acquire a BRA Cobra in need of some TLC but decided to sell it on as the work required for IVA was monumental.
As for myself I don't think I've owned a "normal" car until the last couple of years. I started out with a tuned 1963 mini, Mk2 XR2, Volvo 240GLT, Cavalier GSi, 206 Gti, Accord Type R, S2000, another Accord Type R, Swift Sport, another S2000, then the sensible derv cars VW Scirocco and then the CC Some pics of the later cars First ATR First S2000 Second ATR Second S2000 Then kids, so this will be transport till the BM arrives |

Due to growing up with a lot of Japanese friends, I've always had a distinct passion for Japanese vehicles from the 90s. As such, my first car was a Honda Civic coupe, followed by a Nissan S14 two years later. During this time I managed to persuade my Dad in to getting a 350Z, which we put on Nismo LMGT4 wheels. The Z33 was a new release at the time, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. I had a part-time job as a waiter whilst at school, followed by a job at Ikea. Everything I earned went in to upgrades for the Civic and S14.
My first car, with a friend's TT Soarer, V8 Soarer and Dad's Z33: When I first got my S14: Once the S14 was fairly modified and a bit too impractical for daily use, I daily'd a Honda Civic VTi Aerodeck (B18C4 engine + LSD), followed by an Accord Type-R (the H22 engine in this was GLORIOUS). I still own the S14, 10 years later The Aerodeck VTi (essentially a DC2 Type-R in an ugly estate body): The ATR on FN2 Type-R wheels: The S14 in its current state: Planning to keep the S14 indefinitely. I will always have a love for 90s-era VTECs and Turbos

1976 Aston Martin DBS Lagonda 5.3l V8 manual
Haven't got a picture of it saved anywhere, as it's been stored at friend of my Dad's since it was fully restored (new metalwork nearly everywhere on the underside, full interior retrim, entire running gear mechanical stripdown refurb) and but it's like this. |
