Crystal ball anyone? What's it worth...?

I knew this time would come - I am due to trade in my F31 335i and have looked at how much the trade in is vs how much I think it is worth and really have no idea what a realistic value is!

Dealer has offered me £23.5k, which effectively clears the outstanding finance but has also said that if I can flog it myself between now and 1st March for more then I am welcome to. My first thought was that it's worth way more than that, but then, (conscious we all overvalue our own cars!) I look online and predictably find none of similar age to benchmark against.

So, obvious question : what would the experts here reckon I could get for a 2nd hand sale and is it worth the hassle of trying to sell it privately...?

Main spec below :
Mineral grey M Sport with sports auto / adaptive suspension
18" wheels with brand new tyres (will be fitted at the end of the January)
Heated front seats (black leather)
Pro media with ext Bluetooth and idrive with touch input.
HK audio
Adaptive Xenon with HB assist
Oct 2013 reg with 31,000 miles and 4 year service pack.

Feel free to bring me crashing down to Earth on what you all reckon it's worth!

Good point, never thought to try it. I'll have a look and come back later.

Crying, probably....!

Going on my thread about px that's outstanding for the age miles and spec, bite their hand off!

Sounds good to me. And it's a lot less hassle to a PX than doing a private sale. Saves on advertising, dealing with time wasters and then potentially having to do without a car if there is a gap between you selling privately and getting new one.

So, sign on the dotted line now!

But are you not using Ridgeways in Hook? If so Salesmen in there wouldn't give you the cheese from under their foreskin

Nope, too far away, not my local dealer, and weren't interested when I bought my F31 so avoid them!

Question for the OP, what are you trading it in against? Is it new and what discount are they offering? Quite often a good trade in value on paper is offset by a poor discount on the new car. It's all about the cost to change at the end of the day. As said earlier, the trade in value seems good.
edit, just re-read your post and they are allowing you to sell it privately so maybe you can ignore me
Still worth a check on the new car discount though.

I use Vauhall's website for valuations. It's free, and wont be far off.

https://www.vauxhall.co.uk/offers-fi...ue-my-car.html

Just checked trade-in prices...

£18,950 Good
£17,650 Average
£17,000 Below Average

So at least he's not trying to rob you.

Edit:

Vauxhall use CAP for valuations so just go to http://www.cap.co.uk/car-valuation

That's £5,000 more than I was offered the week before Christmas for my July 2013 F30 335i (2014MY with iDrive touch) which has a few more options and 18,000 miles. That was against an M5 for March delivery.

The M5 discount was a few hundred better than what BMW quote their contributions as, though it was less than the dealer offers via the "buy your BMW" feature of the configurator!

Needless to say I walked. They did contact me to see if I was interested, so I told them they needed to do better, I've not heard anything since.

Check the discount off the new car on the configurator by building your car, going through the "buy" process to select your dealer and getting to the finance option which will give you the contributions, monthlies etc. based on deposit.

I've had all 3 of my beemers from them, was pleased with the deals I got.
Much better than my local dealer Dick Lovett. They've always been rubbish...

It's only a good price if the cost of the new car is competitive.

I suppose they sell to someone otherwise they wouldn't be in business, take my word for it there are Dealers out there that will offer better deals and far better service.

IMO they tend to rely on the locals who are too lazy to go elsewhere and it probably helps that BMW Financial services are less than 400yds away.

I agree with other dealers will offer far better service, but they got within £500 of C2C quote for me. No other ldealer in the extended area got anywhere near!

Oh, BMW finance have moved to Farnborough now, with the rests of HQ

Hmmm.... WBAC are offering £19.5k which surprised the hell out of me, I thought it would be worth more than than that, so it seems the PX is good value.

It's a trade in against a new 340i, which I got 22-23% discount on if I recall, circa 11k off the screen price at RRP at the time. I'll dig out the paperwork and check. That discount isn't as good as some on here from what I have read, but I was happy at the time and still am really, particularly from what I've learned on the PX deal!

Cost to change for me was £750 deposit. They asked for £250, but I increased a little as I had the money and it brought the monthlies down another couple of quid.

Seems general consensus is the price is good then - these things don't half depreciate hard in the first two years, don't they?!

I guess it comes down to how their sales have gone that month.

I live in Sunningdale but own properties in Hartley Wintney and Odiham and I have tried them on every BMW I have purchased over the years (bar the 340i) even going back to when they were based (under a different name admittedly) in Odiham. They can never compete.

I put the wifes car in for a service about 18 months ago and it came back with over 100 miles extra on it and got told I was making it up despite having a photo of the mileage when it was dropped off.

Shower of shite IMO
