Anybody else hate washing 403 Alloys!!!?

Jst washed the motor as its not going to be used for a week or so. Jesus I hate washing the wheels!!!! I even put off washing the car because I hate washing them so much.

Fingers aches like those of a 90 year old by the time I've finished!!

I think they are going to have to be changed!!! The wheels, not my fingers!! :-)

I trust you're not using Bilt Hamber auto-wheel on them then? Try it, makes cleaning any wheels so much easier, more so if you apply some alloy wheel seal now and again. :-)

Yes I hate them too. Just ordered a pressure washer which should help! Wish three spokes were coming back into fashion

Bilt hamber wheel cleaner, it's grrrrrrreat as tony would say

Spray, wait, use bristle brush that fits into narrow spokes, brush round rims etc, then bigger brush to clean inside of the wheel, then using left over wash water quick wash with a micro fibre, then pressure wash, only takes 5 mins, fingers not required

Really, 3 minutes per wheel?

The last time I did a full wash and protection of the wheels it took about 2 hours, but even a quick clean takes about 10 minutes per wheel to get between all the spokes and then dry it all off.

You could look at applying a coat of Gtechniq C5.

Yes I hate cleaning allys as well, I generally do then all first to get that part of the car cleaning job over with. I keep mine regularly topped up with wax or other alloy protector though (poor boys wheel sealant), I then use Meguiar's Hot Rims, hose first, spray with the cleaner, then wipe round using a hand mitt thing (microfibre probably best for alloys, you may also need to wear rubber gloves if the wheel cleaner is very aggressive). I avoid using any acid based cleaners (the Hot Rims stuff doesn't seem to be acid based and I've not come across any tarnishing on the diamond cut parts as yet) and I don't really like using brushes, wheels still look good as new

This just deal them.

A wheels off C5 is around £60.

Or do it yourself. Use C5 or FK1000P or Swisswax Autobahn.

You don't need wheel cleaner then

Yep, wheels are horrible. 624's are not easy. I use gloves when cleaning my wheels so my fingers are not wrecked after the wash!

I quite like Wonder Wheels; I've used it for years and always happy with the results and speed I can clean the cars.

It doesn't seem too popular on here? This is when you tell me it ruining my wheels.

Seems I'm not the only whose hates washing these wheels. Bring back the 313's. I had these on my e92 and they were a breeze to clean. My hand would fit through the spokes and I could wash the inside of the wheel with ease!!!!

Just ordered some Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner.

I have coated my 403's with a few layers of Finish kare 1000p and now a quick pressure wash and wash mit with car shampoo gets them clean in a few minutes each.

hmmm... any lacquer left?
403s are a pain to clean, but do look well when you make the effort.

Part of the reason I swapped to 442's was because cleaning the 403's was such a chore.

My 442's are treated with C5, then Bilt Hamber auto wax; been on the car for around 6,000 miles, popped the fronts off yesterday to clean and grease the front brakes, and they came up perfectly inside and out.

Same on the Leaf after around 8k miles, less relevant comparison though as that hardly gives off any brake dust.

I also use Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel quite frequently on the BMW, almost never on the Leaf.

I use Valet Pro Bilberry wheel cleaner and wouldn't use anything else. You can get 5 litres for £25 and it can be diluted down up to 1:10. In my experience it gets 90% of the dirt off without having to touch the wheels with a wash mitt.

No point in using the auto wax on the wheels if you are using BH Auto Wheel as it will strip the BH Auto Wax on the first application - it will not touch the C5 immediately but would degrade it quicker if you was using it routinely.

not much help, but when choosing wheels I always take into account their cleanability.
