Austin Yellow in St. Louis area?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has an austin yellow M3/4 in the St. Louis area I could check out in person in the next week or two by chance.

I work weekends at Newbold BMW in O'fallon, IL and recently put in an order for a YMB f80, but I am thinking about switching to AY. Problem is I have seen YMB in person but not AY so I don't really want to make the jump until I can see one in real life!

I have heard one of the guys out at Scott AFB has one but haven't seen it around yet so if anyone knows him let me know!!

Congrats! When is your build week?

I ordered from West County BMW a couple of weeks ago and he had mentioned that the only color he hadn't seen come through that dealership was SO (which is what I ordered, just changed from YMB), so I have to imagine there is one or two around. I think I have ever only seen a white f80 and a black f82 around the STL area in the last year or so, so the odds of seeing one around town are slim.

A quick search shows there are a couple for sale in Chicago... maybe a reason to go party up there for a weekend?

I think that is a valid reason for partying in Chicago...

Not that this helps with AY, but I have a Tanzanite Blue F82 being delivered to Plaza BMW late next week, if that was one you wanted to see in person as well. Tough to find some of these colors in person in the Midwest, but I feel like every review I see online has AY as the color.

Off topic: Are either of you part of a BMW club in town? Looking to join one somewhere.

I drove up to a dealer in Springfield, IL to check out YMB and SO to help make my decision. Chicago isn't too far....

Awesome and congrats on the new ride! Great choice on color. Post some pics when you get it, hopefully the weather will continue to be decent so you can enjoy it. May I ask what build week you were and about how long it took to get here after it was done with production? I am scheduled for week 5 and guessing i won't see it until late march, early april

I am not currently a member of the STLBMWCCA, but will join when I get my car. I actually joined their forum to ask the same question the OP did, about seeing colors in person, and no one was real accommodating... not sure if there just wasn't a whole lot of people with F80/82's at the time? I have been a member of the STL region SCCA for a while now and have met a lot of good people. I would recommend checking out an autocross or an HPDE with the new ride

Hey guys little update,

So we were having a hell of a time getting a build slot within the near future... And had no luck with dealer trades. So I ended up just picking up the mineral grey on SO car we had in stock already. The car is optioned way higher than I had originally planned but I love it.

I'm not a member of any car clubs in town, but I am pretty involved in the car "happenings" in the area through some of the places I work. I am definitely planning on some PDX/HPDE days once it warms up with the M3 and my Skyline.

Also, we just received a Tanzanite blue f82 yesterday. Unfortunately (in my opinion) it has a moonroof but besides that the color looks great.

Yeah, once there are a few more M's in the area we should plan some sort of mini meet sometime in the summer.

Let me know if any of you local guys are in need of random vendor services too (tint, clear bra, pdr, wheel repair, vinyl, aftermarket parts, alignments, etc.) I can likely get you guys better pricing.

One thing I'll add is that AY looks way better in the flesh as opposed to in photos. Its a very bright and complex color so I think its hard to photograph well.

I've had mine for exactly 1 year now and I still think its a great color. You will never have any trouble finding it in a car park thats for sure :-)

Happy New Year everyone!
