E91 LCI Logic 7 Problem

Hi,

I have searched and read other threads but I haven't found someone who had the exact problem I did.

I have a 2009 E91 LCI w/ Logic 7, when I was driving it home yesterday everything was fine and I heard a loud bang from all the speakers, this continued with crackling from my drivers speaker and no other sound. Eventually the crackling in the drivers side stopped, I parked it and started it again and got the "no accoustic tones" warning.

This morning I started the car and had 2 loud pops in the speakers and crackling from the rear speakers, I didn't have the accoustic tone warning because obviously it must be getting some sort of signal.

I've got tomorrow off so I will be checking fuses then but it doesn't sound like a fuse, it also doesn't sound like the normal issue people have with the logic 7 amps. Anything I should pay particular attention to considering my strange symptoms? Looms or cables?

Most common problem is water on the amp.

Most common problem is water on the amp.
Water collects in the amp area due to bad seals from
the lights , trunk lid or sunroof drain shorting out the amp.
So the first step is a visual of the amp area.

Yeah going to do this too, is this a problem in the wagons too? No drain points are remotely close to the amp if it's the one behind the tool kit in the floor.

Alright, checked fuses. All good I think.

Had a play with the tone section inside iDrive. I can turn L7 on and off and adjust the channels however there is a substantial delay, around 10 seconds. Still no sound. Songs in my "stored music" and on USB don't play, and remain at 00:00. No issues with my nav, but still no sound or warning tones.

Oddly, I only get the "no acoustic tones" warning on starting the car 50% of the time, other times I don't get the warning but still no sound either way.

So! What modules are in this loop? (is this what they call MOST BUS?) Where is each module located in the E91 and what is the process for diagnosing/eliminating a module?

Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for that, I couldn't see anywhere in there about how to diagnose MOST BUS faults, will the diagnostic computer at a dealer be able to do it?

It can read modules but get ready for a big bill.

It can read modules but get ready for a big bill.
And they will end up shotgunning the modules more
than likely .
The only way to find out which module is bad it with a most
bus jumper to take out the Bluetooth and satellite module and if
its the amp or head unit the only way you will know unless its something visually obvious is to swap a known good one in. And in the case of Head
Unit it needs to be programmed for the options in your car.
From your first description I am guessing the amp is the most likely
suspect.
Did you ever check the amp area for water?
The entertainment pdf about the third link down shows you were
things are located.
In an e91 its under the rear most cover under the plastic tool holder.
