Michelin PSS please help

Hi, can anyone help this noob tyre buyer get the right ones? According to www.f1autocentres.com, my car needs Front: 225/40R19 Y | Rear: 255/35R19 Y.

My wheels are the 19inch options (you can see the specific wheels in my profile pic).

I enter my reg number RJ13 LXF, select the wheel size, 19inch and it gives me options for front and rear, separately.

Mich PSS appears as an option for front but NOT for rear. I assume the actual wheels are the same front and rear. Can I just buy 4 of the ones that come up under "front". Does Michelin make PSS for both sizes and this website just doesn't list them?

If yes to the first question, is it recommended to have exactly the same tyres front and rear or is this a problem?

I've just done 24,000 miles and time to replace the Bridgestone Potenzas that came with my car and am very much hoping the PSS will be a noticeable improvement!

Any help choosing the right tyres would be much appreciated.

Nope the tyres for the rear are wider- 255 rather than 225, so you can't buy 4 the same!

and, MPSS are available in XL (extra load) which several of us on the forum suit the car very well.

Makes sense - thank you. So why doesn't it list the PSS as an option for the rears?

Anyone recommend somewhere I can get it done? I'm in Reading.

Try Costco if you've got a membership? They're pretty competitive.

They won't be listed as an official BMW recommended tyre I don't think.

Ok, now if I go to the Michelin website and type in my model, wheels, etc it only comes up with this:

http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/car-...t=true&usage=0

So only Pilot Sports, not PSS. Do I need different wheels to fit PSS?

Anyway just to add - I've been to several websites and can't find PSS tyres that fit. I'm beginning to think it would be much simpler just to get the BMW recommended ones. If anyone can tell me where they got theirs, that would help a lot. Thanks

Blackcircles.com via Quidco gives you another 1.5% via cash back but the prices do seem to vary - odd since it's now owned by Michelin!

Hi - for the last few years I've gotten tyres for my cars at mytyres.co.uk

They've got the tyres the guys are talking about here for your rears : MPSS 255/35 ZR19 96Y XL with Rim Protection (http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rsh...n&typ=R-196944) for £193.50 including fitting

I think the XL status is the tyre manufacturers description when there are multiple load ratings for that tyre. As you quite rightly point out 93Y is the only option for that PSS size, and 93 is a high load rating.
