OT - Fancy a ride?
I know there's a few cyclists from various references over time...
I'm after a new bike. Spec requirements are di2 gears and hydraulic disc brakes. I'm thinking about getting the one below which has both. I'm not mad about the colour scheme but that doesn't bother me too much. However I have a nagging feeling that I should be getting the lightest most aero bike possible (ie a Canyon Aeroad). What do you think? http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/...1/24966/90509/ |

The defy is for old ladies.
Look at a TCR or a Propel. TCR would be best bet in my humble opinion.

I have a 2015 Canyon Di2 Ultimate 8 and its amazing! Di2 is just incredible. I wouldn't be too fussed with discs on a racer as I find the Exalith braking surface on the Mavic wheels incredible. Compared to the standard ultegra blocks its streets ahead especially in the wet.

The discs on road bikes are great now they're hydraulic rather than cable. That looks a great bike but as you know the discs alone mean it won't be light.
I really like the Trek machines. Had a Domane 5 fir a few years and the comfort was incredible. New mad one has that tech now too, plus aero and lightweight and more a race bike geometry. I would say check those new Madones if the price is anyway affordable. I like the colour scheme...reminds me of something.....my all in one steed now, picked up for £1600 (from £2400) and half that was from cycle to work scheme too. Enjoy the shopping, January could be a good time to buy.

Thanks for the comments. Good point about the pedals!
I have a Trek Madone already, just fancy a change. The reason for wanting discs is I have hydraulic discs on my MTB and would love the same stopping performance on my Road bike. I hear what's been said about the Canyon braking on Exalith... but their delivery isn't until May/June - that's no use. I'd love an Aeroad. They're obviously too popular for their own good! I can get a discount on the Giant and I can get it before Christmas. Very tempting. |

Get a proper bike where you don't need Lycra and you don't annoy the fuck out of car drivers
Try Rutland bikes they have decent Christmas sales proper bikes and skinny ones. |

Keswick Bikes have some great deals on "flood damaged" stock that just got its feet wet in the recent inclement events here in the Lakes.
