1st Oil Change @ 30,000kms (18,640 miles) on 320d?

My service indicator is indicating that my first inspection service is due at 30,000kms (18,640 miles) or December 2007.

It is a 320d with only 2000kms and it has been static at 30,000kms since the beginning.

This seems like a long way to the first oil change even for synthetic oil and a diesel engine. Also, does the 320d burn some oil in between delivery and 1st inspection (my last car required a top up at about 12,000kms)

For those other 320d owners out there... is this what your service indicator displayed when you got the car. Is in the same for all countries?

sorry i have a 325i and mine is about 18500 miles. When i took it to the dealer, one of the mechanics told me that the car can tell what type of driving you are doing (highway vs. city0 and it then calculates the amt of distance left. You probably are doing alot of highway driving as well.

Oil Change is different from First Inspection.

The service indicator will count down slowly then gradualy increase depending on the accumulation of contaminants in your engine oil. Mine did the same but now reads 1900km and I have clocked 17000km.

My service indicator started on 15000km's.

I now have 10 000km's and about 7000 on the SII.

I think 30 000 is a bit high? Especially for a diesel!
