Sky TV - any hints or tips?

It's come to the end of my 12 month half price contract, I've handed my notice and now playing the waiting game to see if they will entice me back...

Any of you guys managed to negotiate another year of 50% off?

Yes.

Each time I cancel. Get to the end of the notice period and ask "can you tell me my cancellation date please, I didn't write it down" and I get through to retentions team and voila.

My bro cancelled after being long time subscriber and although he got back in with a deal, meh now pays extra for F1 and box sets etc which I get free so trying not to go through with cancelling myself but will push for half price. I do always allow a month or two at full price before calling.

Call them a week before the end of your notice and ask them to confirm when your contract ends so you may cancel the direct debit (you don't want Sky and Virgin Media charging you at the same time) - they'll put you back to retentions...

100% you have to cancel to get best offer.
I was about to pull trigger on 30% on chat but cancelled. Within minutes I used the sky remote and it suggested come back for 40% and online (on sky website). I used chat and got 50 % and 50 quid credit. 40 quid for full sky it's worth it for for me

Ps just fully read post, login online and you should see a rentention deal. The chat is very good as well

Gents - awesome advise. Just spoke with Sky and they have given 50% off all packages and 60% off HD. Now paying less than I did before which the Mrs is pleased about...

Cheers again for the help!

You need to actually go through with cancelling and entering the notice period. You can then go onto your My Sky web page and see a return to Sky offer. Think my offer was 40% off. I waited a week then contacted them via chat (search google for return to Sky chat as its a dedicated chat line) and told them I'd an offer for 50% off. I now have 50% off everything for 12 months, £50 credit to my account, and multiroom fitted for free and only paying 50% for that too.
😊

We got rid of sports & movies, saved £35/month, then got Apple TV and now TV with sky movies free for 3 months, then 3 months for £4.99 after we said we'd leave, then again for only £7/ month after we said £10/month was too much.
You can get a sky sports day/weekend pass for anything you'll actually want to watch.
Odd how now TV can sell sky programmes cheaper than sky? More choice too.

Cancel your subscription. I waited errr 5 minutes then logged onto MySky and selected the option. Left Sky within last 12 months and started Webchat. Got offered 50% for a year but declined and the offer went up to 60%.

For a non sky user, is there still a need to plug in box to a phone line?

Yes, just wait until they call you back - even when disconnected go into your online account and check for "come back" offers there.

No, I never connected it but you really want it to be connected to the internet either wired or wireless.

Internet connection will be fine via homeplugs, just that our main tv is a long way from phone point . If sky insist on a phone connection, that may make me stay with virgin.

About that time again, that I need to sort my internet/phone discount.

Thanks to the advice on here I already have 60% of my sky Tv till december.

But my internet/phone was already on a discount and has now expired, Do I do exactly the same thing and cancel and wait? The online chat says "left sky TV in the last 12 months" so does that mean I cant use chat to give me the deal and I will have to phone up again?

I've got 50% off for 12mths and £50 credit. The retention line was pants (offered 25% off), as well as very long winded. I had to leave and during the 1 month notice period, I went online and told them I was offered 50% and £50 credit. It was accepted by Sky.

You'll also notice the discount on the Sky Service app changes to 50%, once you've cancelled.
