F80 brake set on F30/36

Hi Guys,
just have a chance to get a full set of M Power brakes from new F80.
They have 12000 miles on them and price is (I assume) dirt cheap - around 700 bucks.
It's front and rear - complete setup as a friend switched to ceramic setup.

So as a noob I have to ask you.

Will F80 set fit my F36 ?
And are real M brakes different than M performance option for F30/36 ?

F80 brake discs are bigger and cross drilled I believe. I woukd think that provided you have 18 wheels or above woukd be OK as there are F8X wheel options, great price by the way!

For that price, I'd snap them up and figure out how to make them fit after. Very cheap.

I don't see why not since you are changing out the whole brake system. Hopefully all the bolts are in the right places.

You might run into some clearance issues, but depends on what the issues might be, they are easy fix  New wheels or spacers.

This is going to be the issue.

The knuckle is different for the M3 which is not surprising as obviously it won't be using any of the standard suspension/steering parts from a normal 3er. That doesn't immediately rule out the swap (it may be different just from an angle or other minor design issue like lower weight while still using the same size and spaced holes for the caliper carrier mount).

It does mean that the fit is not assured.

Since it's a buddy selling them to you then it should be possible to take a wheel off and test fit the calipers before officially "buying" them. It may be something as simple as just replacing the knuckle with an M3 knuckle....or as complex as swapping out the entire front suspension (if the knuckle needs new control arms, etc).

$700 is a good price for M3 brakes.....but it's awful expensive for a cool paperweight for your man cave. LMAO

Other brands are swapping BBK from another brand all the time. I am sure it can be done.

Someone's gotta be the first one to do the swap at some time. at $700, consider it to be a experimental project for the forum!
