need advice on ungrades

it seems like everyone on here has a baby in the backseat and no one's thinking boost the powa! I got no baby! I kinda wanted to make some simple upgrades on the car and get it at least up to 300 hp. So far i'm sharing it with my mom now but the car feels like it could rip 300z's and g35's with a little performance and lovin. I'm thinking a basic k&N filtr but idk what fits, definitly got to lighten the thing up. I got AAA so I took the spare and all that junk out in the back. its on a lease like most peeps who took the smart way out but any ideas here for more power???? I just want to really tear a hole in my neighbors stock G35 coup.

I'm no expert, but from what I've heard, the X3 isn't the way to go if you want to mod. They are already pretty maxed out. Japanese cars have a lot more room to improve.

Garage List
1990 325i  [0.00]
Assuming you have the 3.0
The M54B30 is a 3.0 L (2979 cc) successor of the 2.8 L BMW M52. Bore remains the same at 84 mm, but stroke is increased 5.6 mm to 89.6 mm. Power is 231 hp (168 kW) while torque is 221 ft·lbf (300 Nm).

It is an all-alloy engine with Al-Sil block. It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with Double VANOS (variable valve timing) and features fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft, and reinforced plastic intake manifold. It is produced in Steyr, Austria.

The M54B30 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list through 2001-2003.

Same engine as seen in the E46 330i if you have the money Active Autowerke makes a killer product www.activeautowerke.com. I am sure they can tweak the DME in an X3...ESS makes one specially for the E83

Other than that a aftermarket (AFE/K&N) CAI with a free flow exhaust will yeild modest gains.

the 07 X3's came with the same N52 engine as the E-90 330's, as well as the Z4 3.0si. there are people who have boosted the tuning on these engines into the 300hp range, but you have to look at reliablity and warranty.

what are you looking at doing?
