Catless DP's & Limp Mode
So I had my UR catless DP's installed yesterday and they are absolutely insane. Turbo sound is simply nasty and exhaust note is very mean.
Only only problem tho. I get a limp mode ("Engine malfunction power reduced") everytime, about 15 minutes after starting the engine and it NEVER happes under boost, always just crusing or even at zero throttle. NOTE: I am not losing any power and the car runs perfectly normal. So it's kinda of a "fake" limp mode. Car still runs great! I already also have the Service Engine Soon light, which I don't care about. This happens in STOCK MODE and with PROcede enabled. Same thing. No difference. Any thoughts?

order the O2 simms from BMS at http://www.burgertuning.com/products.html. That should fix your CEL. I believe Vishnu will have a solution out shortly as well, and will simply include adding a wire to the PROcede harness, and changing the map.

They are definitly related. The car is Limiting itself because it's reading that the vehicle is running very rich - that and it notices that you are running faster than an M series. Once you get the simms you shouldn't have an issue. Just curious, do you have an 08 or an 07? I just recently got the Riss Racing downpipes and they were telling me that the 08s were the ones having CEL issues.

I have an 01/07 production. The car is running perfect tho, even with the fake "limp mode".

once your bmw ecu program is updated with the latest one, you will most probably get cels with catless dps.

We need a mechanical o2 fix so we can leave catless downpipes in when going in for service.

I went to the catless DPs.
I ordered the O2 Simms from Terry and they work terrific. Quote:
The o2 Simms take the first sensor readings and the second sensor readings and tricks the ecu by adding "resistance" therefore tricking the ecu into thinking that there is a cat in place. There are actually multiple o2 simmulators. There isn't a "one solution" 02 simm because it depends on what else you are running...like is the car stock, or do you have an IC, etc. The first one that I got from Terry didn't work because I needed a stronger resistance since I was "free flowing" so well. The second one provided is working perfectly.
