What's your Driving mode
What mode do you drive in on a regular basis. Having only taken delivery of my 335i (8AT) at the end of October im still playing around with the different modes. At this point I've been driving with the shifter in sport mode (pushed over to the left) but the chassis still in comfort.
I find it really annoying that you can't set up the car (even via coding) to start the whole car in sport mode. Just wondering what everyone else does.

Sport for most driving. For traffic jams, Comfort, and for low-speed cruising around town, Sport+ for the sound.

Like you I am in Comfort + M/S. I find the gas pedal response is to jerky for me in Sport mode.

///M6, Wet or Damp - P500S, S5 normally, MDM (As much throttle as possible.)
///M6, Dry - P500S, S6, DSC Off (Flat stick every chance I get!) 328d - Sport in town, Comfort on the Interstate. i8 - Continually switching according to traffic conditions. I typically take off in Max eDrive for the first 5 miles, hop on the Interstate in sport, back to electric once I exit the Interstate and stay there until I reach my destination. |

Sport 99.9% of the time. Comfort only on road trips (unless someone gets froggy, then it's back to sport)

Plus, since it mostly disables DTC, I try not to use it except at lower speeds. Or just before I hit an open on-ramp for that little bit a wiggle.

Sport on the highway and sport+ in town all the time. I've driven in comfort and eco a few times and never seen any gains in fuel economy, just a boring drive. I drive in sport+ in any city situation because the traction control is too intrusive in sport, making entering into fast paced city traffic downright dangerous if the wheels don't get immediate traction.

Disengage. I had it coded, but the dealer updated software the last time I was in and I haven't bothered to redo it. The button pushing is so second nature now I don't even think about it.

Comfort 75% of the time around town (6MT)...makes Sport actually mean something when I switch to it for the twisties or spirited driving. Rarely, if ever use Eco Pro (just way too lethargic).
In other words, I actually take advantage of having driving modes. I don't get why people would stick with one mode 99.9% of the time.

Because there's no reason to not be using the features eco pro mode has when on a long 25 mile drive on the highway? But really I save SOOO much gas in eco mode by just putting it in cruise control and letting the car figure out coasting and speeding up on the highway. Out of my 25 mile drive, 24 are highway miles so I basically just live in eco unless there's traffic. You can always floor it and the car will take off.

Sport mode mostly, Comfort when in stop and go traffic since Sport can be jerky.
Don't know what to say about Eco Pro. I've tried it, but it lowers my testosterone too much. Sport + is balls out in the hills.

EDIT: Or, maybe it does? I tried this on the way in this morning and it seamed to work. I'm not sure I drove enough to activate it though. I'll try experimenting this week. Perhaps this was a component of the latest update? Last edited by BavarianFanatic; 11-16-2015 at 08:56 AM.. |
