HUD no longer shows Nav info

I have a 2016 340xi. Yesterday I noticed that Nav info stopped displaying in the HUD. Nothing in the instrument cluster either. Everything else in the HUD works as expected. Tried cycling the checkboxes for the HUD details and the instrument cluster details without success. Software version reports MB 001.044.001 / TB 001.044.001 (update website reports this is current). Dealer and BMW genius don't have any ideas. Anyone else seen this?

Did you accidentally use the 2nd key fob? If so, maybe that profile is set not to show nav directions in the HUD?

Thanks for the thought but no. I was using my primary key. I actually tried changing the profile and switching keys to no avail.

Also, the nav info (arrows / directions) aren't showing up in the instrument cluster either (the phone / media info displays there if I uncheck the HUD display for that). So I think the problem is upstream of the part of the code that sends the nav info to the HUD or the instrument cluster.

If that's the case, do you have the "Navigation" box checked off in the iDrive settings for "Instrument Cluster"?

Yes. I've tried multiple combinations of unchecking and rechecking the boxes for Nav information in both the HUD and Instrument Cluster settings to no avail. Thanks.

Seems like the dealer needs to fix it.

I don't disagree. My guess is that there is a bug in the software that will require an update. I posted here hoping someone else had a similar experience and had it successfully fixed. I'm thinking that if this isn't a known problem it will take a couple of rounds with the dealer to get it fixed (once to get the problem identified and again once updated software is available). Thanks.

I hope it goes easily for you. That is a crappy issue to be sure. I can imagine how stressed I would be.

Next time you start up the car, press and hold the volume button on the radio until the NAV system reboots. See if that helps. Takes at least 20-30 seconds

That's good info to know. Didn't even know you could reboot the system.

Guess I need to go back and RTFM!

This is not well known. Any time you have an issue with nav, sometimes it hangs, or screws up, this does a reboot of iDrive system... just like rebooting a computer. Wouldn't do it every day though.

Settings reset

Both mine and my wife's car had the settings reset yesterday. Her Sirius radio is gone, door lock settings changed. Seems like everything was reset. Anybody else notice this?

Thanks. I'd be a lot more stressed if the car wasn't still fun to drive.

Thanks... Tried that too. As you can actually restart the NAV system while you are moving, I tried several combinations of setting changes and restarts on the trip back.

Sorry, that was my best attempt at a simple fix. Sounds like off to the dealer

Yep. The good news is that they were able to fix the software. In case it will help anyone else with a similar problem, the repair invoice says "TC CASE 62313517 SHORT TEST CHARGED THE BATTERY SUBMITTED TC CASE PERFORMED PROGRAMMING PER RECOMMENDATION. OPERATION NOW NORMAL". Software now reports MB-001.046.012 / TB-001.046.012 (was MB-001.044.001 / TB-001.044.001)

The SA also said they had taken care of an OBD recall (invoice references SI B12 43 15).
