F'IN DEER!

2 month old fully loaded 335...left the house early this morning for a 'peaceful' drive to escape mother in law staying over to 'help' with 1 month old baby. Timing was perfect: took a route last minute i usually don't take, stopped last minute for some gas, back on the road and 30 seconds later ...POOOOOOFFFF out of f'in nowhere.
didn't get good pics...added one ....will post better ones later.

Yup, November is the worst month with deer. Be glad it wasn't a top-heavy moose.

Why is this. Earlier this year I moved to a more suburban set up and I have been observing like 20 dead deer a day. There is dead deer everywhere. I would have expected more dead deer in the summer

Mating season. The bucks are thinking with the wrong head this time of year. They literally get stupid and lose their sensibilities.

Lol, they need to learn that thinking with the wrong head should not necessarily lead to death.

That's a shame the carcass is left to rot. I read a sad article in Car and Driver about how many people in rural/poor areas value roadkill for the food. The cop interviewed for the article said he keeps a list of people to call when the person who hit the animal doesn't want the body.

Anyway, good news is that the OP is ok and didn't do anything stupid like swerve off the road and ram a tree attempting to avoid the deer.

i rammed head on into that deer. i figured the consequences of swerving would prbly end up worse. it seriously came out of nowhere.

a big selling point for me for the 5 series was the thermal sensors.
i hope they make that option available for the 3 series soon.

The title of that article I mentioned was "Just Hit the Deer" or something similar. Basically the cop was saying bad stuff happens when people try to avoid the deer and the best thing to do is just bite the bullet and take the hit.
